Turnaround
Nirvana Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And turn around
Take a look at who you are
It's pretty scary
So silly
Revolting
You're not much
You can't do anything
Take a step outside the city
And turn around
Take a look at what you are
It is revolting
You're really nowhere
So wasteful
So foolish
Poppycock
Who said don't look back?
Don't believe 'em
Go for that crazy sounding restaurant
"cause they're gonna try and get behind you
Don't you let them do it
You know what I'm talking about?
You hear me talking?
You hear me talking?
It's pretty scary, it's so revolting
Take a step outside the country
And turn around
Take a look at what you are
It is amazing
Take a good look
You're no big deal
You're so petty
It's lots
Take a step outside the planet
Turn around and around
Take a look at where you are
It's pretty scary
The lyrics of Nirvana's song "Turnaround" encourage us to take a step back from our everyday lives and to take a deeper look at who we really are. The song voices a message of self-awareness and reflection, asking the listener to examine their attitudes and behaviors. The repetition of the phrase, "take a step outside yourself", emphasizes the idea of self-reflection and looking at oneself from a new perspective.
The song expresses a sense of dissatisfaction with the self and society at large. The lyrics describe the self as silly, revolting, and wasteful, reflecting a sense of disgust with our own behavior. The line "Who said don't look back? don't believe 'em" speaks to the idea that by reflecting on ourselves and our behavior, we can move forward and make positive changes.
The song also criticizes society, referring to the city, country, and planet as being "revolting" and "scary". This suggests a disillusionment with the world and highlights the need for change.
Overall, "Turnaround" offers a message of self-reflection and a critical look at society. It calls on us to examine our attitudes and behaviors in order to make positive changes and create a better world.

@RobinRenee
I love hearing my favorite "80s" band covered by my favorite "90s" band.
@numburger
Were they not from the 80s or 90s? 🤨
@sawyersucks862
@@numburger id say more 90s but technically they where around in the 80s. They only dropped one album in the late 80s but 3 albums in the 90s so I would call them an 90s band
@numburger
@@sawyersucks862 I wrote that as a joke bc they put 80s and 90s in quotations as if they weren't from either decade

This album is so underrated
@hatred4humanity
I think the reason why it's so overlooked and ignored by the mainstream Nirvana "fans", is because it's a compilation album with rarities.
