All Apologies
Nirvana & Chris Cornell Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What else should I be?
All apologies
What else could I say?
Everyone is gay
What else could I write?
I don't have the right
What else should I be?
All apologies

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Buried

I wish I was like you
Easily amused
Find my nest to salt
Everything's my fault
I'll take all the blame
Aqua seafoam shame
Sunburn, freezer burn
Choking on the ashes of her enemy

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Married
Married
Buried, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are

All in all is all we are
All in all is all we are

Overall Meaning

The song "All Apologies" is a melancholic reflection by Nirvana's Kurt Cobain on his relationship with his wife, Courtney Love. The song starts with the lines "What else should I be? / All apologies. / What else could I say? / Everyone is gay." This can be interpreted as a questioning of Kurt's own identity and behavior - what else should he be besides apologetic? He then goes on to say "What else could I write? / I don't have the right," indicating his frustration with the limitations of his own songwriting abilities. Throughout the song, Kurt expresses his feeling of isolation through metaphorical language such as "sunburn, freezer burn / choking on the ashes of her enemy."

The song's chorus - "In the sun I feel as one / Married / Buried" - represents a moment of fleeting happiness for Kurt, where he feels at peace with himself and his partner. The use of "married" and "buried" may suggest that Kurt feels that his relationship with Courtney is both a form of commitment and a kind of death. The final repetition of "All in all is all we are" seems to suggest a total acceptance of this state of being - that everything, both good and bad, is part of the human experience.

Article 1.
1.i think it ought to be righteous to open up a forum to let the public women speak and give ideas for women- specific laws. Seeing that most of government is male- prominent. It ought to be good to have a females viewpoint.
2.i felt there wasnā€™t really room for bias. The conversation talks about not just women rights but human ones. One should not be open for harassment, period. Never less gender specific.
