Passion
Nixons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He doesn't see her anymore
And yet she stands in front of him
No communication
Only empty words are spoken
With a memory she lingers
On and on and on
For a moment she'll just
Close her eyes and drift away

He doesn't see her anymore
Somehow forgotten what it is
He promised to be here for
But there's something there
There's something left
That keeps her by his side
Close her eyes...
She remembers the passion

Doesn't feel the breath, a kiss
And yet she lies beside him
No imagination
Keeps two steps back - two steps back
With a memory she lingers
On and on and on
For a moment she'll just
Close her eyes and remember when

He doesn't see her anymore
Somehow forgotten what it is
He promised to be here for
But there's something left
There's something there
That keeps her by his side
Close her eyes...
She remembers

She remembers him
She remembers why she came here
From far away to find her way through fairytales...

He doesn't see her anymore
Somehow forgotten what it is
He promised to be there for
But there's something there
There's something left
That keeps her by his side
Something there
There's something stronger
That keeps her hanging on

Close her eyes
And they remember why it is
They promised to be here

Close her eyes...
She remembers the passion

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Nixon's song "Passion" tell the story of a woman who is in a stagnant and unfulfilling relationship with a man who doesn't see her or communicate with her anymore. Despite the lack of connection between the two, there is something that keeps her by his side. The woman reminisces about the passion that was once there, remembering how it felt to be loved and desired by the man. She longs for the moments where she can just close her eyes and drift away or remember when things were different. The lyrics evoke a sense of longing and regret, hinting at a love that was lost and can never be fully regained.

Overall, "Passion" is a song about the struggle to keep a relationship alive, even when it seems like all hope is lost. The lyrics highlight the importance of communication and connection in any relationship, and the danger of taking love for granted. Despite the sadness and melancholy tone of the song, there is also a sense of hope and determination to hold onto the love that once was.

Seen the nixons at the first buzz fest at the Woodlands pavilion in Houston TX. Love their music and probably one of the best singers of his days.

@michaelgoulart8

Nixons must have been the most underrated band in hisory... Zac maloy is such a great singer, next to Eddie Vedder and Gavin Rossdale. Great composing, great performing but still never got where they deserved... when I listen to this a then listen to waht's in the charts today makes me cry of saddness... for today's kids: I'm sorry for you, you've missed real music ;)
