They became the most successful girlband in Germany and their first single "Daylight In Your Eyes" became the most successful single ever in Germany.

The band consisted of five members: Nadja Benaissa, Lucy Diakovska, Vanessa Petruo, Jessica Wahls, Sandy Mölling.

No Angels had a lot of success with their music. They were active from 2000 till 2003. In 2003 they broke up, but in 2007 they started a Comeback. Only Vanessa Petruo didn't want to participate in reunion. She wanted to continue her solo career.

From 2000 till now they released the albums: "Elle'Ments" (2001), "Now... Us!" (2002), "When the Angels Swing" (2002), "Pure" (2003), "Acoustic Angels" (2004), "Destiny" (2007) and "Welcome to the Dance" (2009).
There were also several other "special albums" like: "Elle'Ments - Special Winter Edition", "Elle'Ments - Special Karaoke Edition", "The Best Of No Angels" (2003), "Destiny reloaded"(2008) and "The Very Best of No Angels (2008).

Overall Meaning

It is a really, really great song, still on my playlist, but the approach they were given for the live performance was just a big no. They are singing about heartbreak and losing someone dear to them in super mini-skirts while doing flirty moves and smirks into the camera. This could have had an easy hand-movement choreography while they are behind mics without all of that smoke and wind, bring the hidden back-vocalists and some props on stage maybe, and they could have even worn elegant suits instead of the skirts and it would have been an amazing performance.

@@olmaBLNThere were definitely technical issues in this live performance because the mic of Sandy (the blond girl) was just much louder than the other three and it seems like they couldn't hear each other correctly... maybe the wind machines also caused sound issues? Because weirdly enough the fireworks at the end get picked up much louder than any of the voices or music - which shouldn't be the case if the sound was recorded properly - the surrounding noise on stage should not get picked up by any mic. The sound mixing is way off.

No Angels lipsynch A LOT. Most of their live performances are, in fact, lip synched. You can tell because their voices sound very autotuned.

If u watch some of their early interviews, most decisions, schedule, promotion and like everything had been organzied by their management. They were prepared to perform on stage, but not to become self-employed musicians that handle their business.
I haven't seen much of the comeback time between 2007 and 2009, but the few I know showed less originality than in the beginning of their journey as a group.
But failing on stage?
All of them are able to sing and they delivered for years. I don't know what had happenend that they performed like this. Haven't seen them like this anywhere else. Might have been technical problems.
I think most of them are very self-critical type of persons and they don't seem to be unhappy or unsatisfied at all on stage. So they might really have had problems with in ears or something that they couldn't really adjust group-vocals to their common standard. Strange and kind of sad in the end.
From a German perspective it's even more weird that a Lena has won the competition and the No Angels failed like this. They don't sing worse.

I still love this song A LOT. But the performance is A) not over the top enough for the ESC. And B) the background music is to low. The chorus doesn’t sound right because of the bad settings. They do sing it really good but it sounds odd because of this. And the show part is too underwhelming. But the song is so so good

I wanted the girls from "No Angels" to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest since 2002, but as they finally tried it and really participated, their voices were terrible - I was shocked and my stomach felt bad while watching this performance... I thought they would be great, but in the end I didn't knew why it was so bad and why it happened. It was like you had been hit by a freight train, by reality. 😞

It also seems like they don't hear each other in the right volume or else they would adjust their voices better to each other - they are usually very good at harmonizing, so it's really unusual they sound this disharmonic. Even more ridiculous is that the fireworks at the end get picked up louder on the mic than the entire vocal performance or backing track - you actually shouldn't be able to hear the fireworks that loud if the sound mixing is done correctly... Something on the overall sound recording was extremely off.

Why's everybody saying that the vocals were too loud?? They were too bad! That's the problem. If you have a good vocal range and you're a good singer, things can get quite loud at times but it never sounds off like this.

Ich fand, dass die No Angels im zweiten und dritten Album wirklich ziemlich gute, eingängige Songs hervorgebracht haben. Disappear fand und finde ich völlig langweilig und nichtssagend. Leider kam noch der schlimme Soundmix an diesem Abend dazu. Es hört sich an wie Katzenjammer, auch wenn die Mädels aus meiner Sicht nicht wirklich etwas dafür konnten. An sich waren die No Angels schon eine gute Idee für den ESC.

As a German, I try to analyze why it didn't go well. First: The song was too mediocre for the contest. The chorus in particular is too monotonous. The fireworks didn't help either. Second, the sound mix was poor. Third, it wasn't a really strong performance. 0:20 You can see the nervousness in her eyes, which is a bad first impression. They should have sung a different song. As a girl group, it is best to find a song in which the voices harmonize nicely. They could be glad that Lucy is in the group. The 12 points from Bulgaria helped to keep them from worse. All in all, I like the girls, but it wasn't their best day.

Their solo performances were alright, though you could tell Nadja was nervous as hell. Their harmonies are usually very much on point, but absolutely fail here. Nadja and Vanessa arent audible in the chorus, while Sandy was already put on "too loud" due to her adlips in the end. The background singers also absolutely did not fit to their voices and even as a huge fan, man the dancing was tacky.

Die No Angels haben ja momentan eienen eigenen Podcast. Diese Woche kam der zum ESC damals raus und Sandy meinte da auch, dass sie die Outfits nicht so toll fand. :-D

by the end of the performance you could literally see Sandys underwear - did they not do a fitting?? The great management they had before the comeback clearly left them high and dry for this one. This is just not worthy of their talent

I didn't know, they they are the artists who sing that song. And when I hear the original version, that is good and this is so weak. The sound, the clothes, the "coreography". They not owned the stage. They are good singers and the solos are good, but somehow everything else is so bad.
