In 2004 Rob Kramer – artistic director of Productiehuis Oost-Nederland – invited three string virtuosos for a three-day session that should result in one joint concert. The spontaneously developed synergy between Anne-Maarten Van Heuvelen (bass), Ad Van Meurs (guitar) and Haytham Safia (u’d – Arabic lute) lead to hundreds of shows and four NO blues albums.
In 2007 NO blues becomes a quintet with the advent of Sudanese percussionist أسامة مليجي (Osama Meleegi) and vocalist and producer Ankie Keultjes.

In a big black Cadillac
Staring all them poor boys down
A scorpion tattooed in her neck
She stopped at the wagon wheel
Where you can play your life away
And from the first hand sitting in
I was standing on a corner
When I heard my mama warn me
"Stay away from that kind
She's bad news my boy
She'll use you like a toy
And she'll rob you all blind"
I am a bit lonely
Bit lonely-ly-ly
*arabian words*
I have a way of trimming down
Always had a winning him
I'd like to stare them poor boys down
Taking their every single cent
I was standing on a corner
When I heard my mama warn me
"Stay away from that kind
She's bad news my boy
She'll use you like a toy
And she'll rob you all blind"
I was waiting in a car
When she came out of the bar
And said "I could use a ride"
We'll go riding out of town
Staring all them fools down
To that starlet night
The lyrics to No Blues' song Black Cadillac tell a story of a mysterious and dangerous woman who rides into town in a big black Cadillac. The singer describes her as staring down all the poor boys in town, with a scorpion tattooed on her neck. She stops at a place called the wagon wheel, where people can play their lives away, and from the first hand, she nearly drives everyone insane. The singer's mother warns him to stay away from her, as she is bad news and will use him like a toy and rob him blind.
The second verse shows the singer's desire to be like the woman, confident and able to dominate and take advantage of men. He says he has a way of trimming down and has always had a winning hand. He also wants to stare down the poor boys and take their money. The last verse tells of the singer waiting in a car for the woman to come out of the bar. She asks for a ride, and they go riding out of town, staring down fools to that starlit night. The singer seems to be attracted to the danger and excitement that the woman brings, even though he knows it is not wise to get involved.
The song shows the darker side of human desire and the allure of danger and excitement. It also depicts the conflict between what we want and what we know is right, as the singer is warned by his mother but still can't resist the pull of the woman and the danger she represents.
