The band’s moody, interlocking guitars and ethereal vocals allowed them to fit on bills with bands as diverse as Wavves, Harvey Milk, and Besnard Lakes. Meanwhile, Mexican Summer signed No Joy and issued their self-titled 7", which was produced by Miracle Fortress' Graham Van Pelt in 2010. The band expanded to a four-piece and enlisted the Raveonettes' Sune Rose-Wagner to mix their full-length album, Ghost Blonde, which was released in November 2010.
Their second album Wait To Pleasure was released in April 2013 to critical acclaim.
No Joy followed up Wait To Pleasure with an EP released November 5 2013 entitled "Pastel and Pass Out"

Hare Tarot Lies
No Joy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I kissed back then
I just ran out of this
It felt like snow
Looks like I’m sometimes
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down
I’ll make it up and I’m
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down
You take me upside down
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down.
Too high to drag me
Cause I’m too late
We canceling all
We are now blind
You take me upside down
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down
You take me upside down
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down
I’ll make it up and I’m
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down
You take me upside down
Just a flying beauty
Waiting on lock down
The lyrics to No Joy's song "Hare Tarot Lies" are a bit cryptic and open to interpretation. The repeated phrase "just a flying beauty waiting on lock down" could refer to feeling restrained and held back, waiting for something to happen. The feeling of being lost is also mentioned, perhaps indicating a lack of direction or purpose. The line "I kissed back then, I just ran out of this, it felt like snow" could refer to a fleeting moment of passion or connection that didn't last.
The second verse adds to the feeling of being held back or restricted, with the mention of being "too high to drag" and "we are now blind." This could be a reference to feeling stuck in a situation that is hard to get out of, whether it's emotional or physical. The repetition of the phrase "you take me upside down" adds to the sense of disorientation and confusion.
Overall, the lyrics to "Hare Tarot Lies" are somewhat abstract and don't necessarily follow a clear narrative. However, the use of specific images and phrases creates a sense of atmosphere and emotion.

I’m lost, I’m lost
I feel disoriented and unsure of myself
I kissed back then
I reminisced about past romantic encounters
I just ran out of this
I am no longer interested in that experience
It felt like snow
The experience was cold and empty
Looks like I’m sometimes
At times I appear to be
Just a flying beauty
A person who has overcome immense hardship and difficulty
Waiting on lock down
Stuck in place and waiting for change
You take me upside down
You turn my world around
Too high to drag me
I am so elevated that nothing can bring me down
Cause I’m too late
I missed my chance
We canceling all
We are ending everything
We are now blind
Our inability to see is leading us astray
I’ll make it up and I’m
I will recover and

This is amazing! One of the reasons I will never understand why people say there is no good music any more. You just have to look a little harder.
@miked4309
This Time yup, laura and jasamine were in a band called Bad Flirt which i just came upon by accident this morning.....its different music but just as good.
Charly Bliss and Speedy Ortiz are my current faves......they are better than just about anything any more :)

+This Time I'm in my forties, and if there's one thing that's been consistent in my life, it's that people have ALWAYS said "there's no good music anymore."
@miked4309
+CT68 i am in my latter 40's and im going to 6 concerts in the next month and a half. ive never been this excited about music. i will see NO JOY for the second time this year in about two weeks. at years end i will have gone to 10 shows. music is better than ever and their are lots of alternative genre's. shoegaze and noise pop...alt rock.
@BohemianConspiracy
+This Time You're completely right , there's plenty great modern stuff...
It is just a matter of patience and researches...
However i understand more somebody in his mid 50s and beyond who tell me this... it is just normal than older people get more nostalgic...
There's as well many people who thinks the contrary.... I mean young people who listen to modern alternative rock but do not know much older rock n roll (before the 90s for exemple) and this is another mistake as well...
Those who just look at what is modern but do not explore previous decades are not that open minded

+This Time There is still enough good music. This band should've been really big in the early nineties. In what is popular music just made a shift, like it always does, and most people seem to like what's now popular. Well, so be it. But actually really good music doesn't disappear at all. Listen for example to a band called Nothing. They are amazing.
