The first line-up consists of Theo (played by Adam Pascal) who is the lead singer and rhythm guitar player, Dewey Finn (played by Jack Black) who is famous for his long guitar solos and awkward on stage behavior and Neil (played by Lucas Papaelias) who plays bass.

After an incredibly bad concert in which Dewey tries to jump into the crowd to stage dive and lands on the floor, Theo kicks him out of the band. Dewey is replaced by Spider (played by Lucas Babin) and together they play and win the "Battle of the Band" contest in which Dewey also performs with the school kids he teaches.

Two songs are featured in the movie and are included on the movies soundtrack: "Fight", which plays during the opening credits and "Heal Me, I'm Heartsick", which is the contest entry of No Vacancy.

Remember, he only wrote it in like 15 minutes or whatever so it wasn't complete lol. But in the sense of the movie, that was probably a song he'd been working on since high school and in one night Freddy wrote a song that blew The Legend Of The Rent out of the water because Dewie had to be humbled to learn to trust his band and become a legendary band, not just a rock star

It was a real band, they broke in the 90s after starting in 82 fresh out of high school. They get back together for little gigs every now and then in bars. They never made it and gave up to follow proper careers and have families. Sorry, forgot to say the real band and school of rock band are completely different

Such a great movie school of rock is, it stemmed my inspiration to play guitar ever since I was 8 and I wanted to be cool like those kids but honestly this song rightfully won the battle of the bands contest. I get that the audience wanted the kids to win but this song had way more emotion and better musical structure than the school of rock band’s song did. But, in my opinion the school rock won and earned something better than no vacancy did which was a standing ovation, an encore, and respect. They even got to open they’re own shop/school in the former apartment so it wasn’t a total loss for them either.
