1:53 this is the most heartbreaking moment of any video game

I get chills every single time at that moment and I can hear Yuna saying no. What a beautiful arrangement and heartbreaking journey ❤️

It's a very "twisted" ending. But, it's also the most psychologically fulfilling. The theme is that the game will end which is a double edged fourth wall break. Suddenly, you're not playing the game. You're a character in the game. You're the dream of the game of world that will cease to be once you stop playing. From that moment, you can stop playing at any point and you'll have proven the story correct. If you persist to prolong the dream then you're reassured by the story that there will still be an end. At the moment that is the canonical ending you see it all disappear but not in the way you're led to expect because of the shift in the demographics of the audience by that point. The "dream guy" fades which someone identified with would experience as an ego death. Someone identifying as his counterpoint (identifying with/as Yuna) would have reinforced shock to trigger denial in order to initiate artificial grief. It's akin to the strategy of FF6 and FF7 putting strong turning points as an artificial ending but here they reinforced a literary truth so often that you it began to point toward... Hmm. This gives me an idea.

@@leonardofeltrin957 That line got me. Not him slowly disappearing, or her running after. That one damn line stood with me nearly 2 decades later.

This game left me scarred right through high school. My favourite game of all time, and the one that got me into listening to/playing video game music.
