Rising Tide
Noi!se Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They've all been washed away along with all of your clarity
And now you can't remember which side of the line you were on
Whatever happened to when hard work brought prosperity?
Foundations laid on mass deceit and insincerity
America is waking up, we've been asleep too long
Are we who they say we are
Empty promises that lead to more and more of the same
Campaigns based on disregard
The empty spaces grow and grow as the standards regress
Keep a nation in the dark, someone's bound to start a flame
Can't make sense of the mess that's its front of me
Am I the enemy or just their property
Wanna feel like nothings stopping me; no fear, see clear, peace or mutiny
Watching people as they shout their convictions
Don't know if its fact or fiction
Pick a side to stand: to the left, to the right
There's a circle in the middle and they're not inside it
Are we who they say we are
A million faces tell the story of their "work in progress"
Empty promises that lead to more and more of the same
Campaigns based on disregard
The empty spaces grow and grow as the standards regress
Keep a nation in the dark, someone's bound to start a flame
The tide is rising now the lines are getting hard to see
They've all been washed away along with all of your clarity
And now you can't remember which side of the line you were on
Whatever happened to when hard work brought prosperity?
Foundations laid on mass deceit and insincerity
America is waking up, we've been asleep too long
Are we who they say we are
A million faces tell the story of their "work in progress"
Empty promises that lead to more and more of the same
Campaigns based on disregard
The empty spaces grow and grow as the standards regress
Keep a nation in the dark, someone's bound to start a flame
The song "Rising Tide" by Noi!se discusses the state of the American society and political system. The lyrics suggest that the lines between right and wrong have become blurred, and it is challenging to distinguish between truth and lies. The metaphor of the rising tide symbolizes the growing issues, which have engulfed the United States. The song suggests that the nation's values are corrupted by greed, deceit, and insincerity, and the citizens seem to have lost their perception of what is right or wrong.
The lyrics question if the Americans are who they claim to be. The disillusionment is apparent in the lines, where the singer wonders if they are the enemy or just property. The chorus implies that there is a lack of progress despite the promises made by politicians. They campaign with disregard for the truth, and the empty spaces of society grow more prominent as standards regress.
Moreover, the song stresses the importance of unity and clear sight for the nation, calling it a work in progress. The circle in the middle represents the area that the nation needs to unite upon to move forward. The song suggests that the people need to join forces to start a potential revolution and ignite the change, still possible in the nation. America needs to wake up, the song says, and it's been sleeping for too long.

great tight sound & lyrical depth. seriously, its a new voice for streetpunk. can't tell you how many times I hit repeat on this song when I picked up the disc. Can honestly say there isn't a weak song on either of their releases. keep it coming...

Out of all the modern punk bands. This is one of the few that screams 'real' to me.. And keeps it raw enough gritty enough with some good melody, without going completely candy coated bubble gum pop punk style, commercial sell out.
T -shirt at 0:28. Good indicator as to why.

Cold Daze screams Oi! To me and that’s even better if you ask me
@goods5119
GMM was THE label for me back in the 90s. Real streetpunk and oi from all over the world. The knock out compilations were all loaded and introduced me to so many bands that I became a fan of. I miss that era.
