Why?
Non Credo Lyrics

But I heard its rhytmic drip
It's left a pool on the rug
And I'd like to go for a dip
Don't ask me why
I don't feel anythinf
And I never cry
No one took the time
But it's gone just the same
It's wasted away in the rhyme
And I'm not hte one to blame
Don't ask me why
I don't feel anythinf
And I never cry
Oh... I'm not sorry
Don't tell me that's not fair
Oh... I'm not sorry
How can I be when I don't care
No one heard the voice
But it cried out its pain
It's just another noise
Like the thunder of the rain
Don't ask me why
I don't feel anythinf
And I never cry
The lyrics of Non Credo's song Why? contain feelings of apathy and detachment in the face of a violent event when the singer says: "No one saw the blood, but I heard its rhythmic drip. It's left a pool on the rug, and I'd like to go for a dip." The metaphor of wanting to take a dip in the pool of blood exposes a disturbing lack of empathy for the victim and a detachment from the violent act that took place. These lyrics are a commentary on the coldness of our society and the increasing lack of concern for one another. The singer goes on to say, "Don't ask me why. I don't feel anything, and I never cry," which emphasizes the numbness and emotional distance often found in modern society.
The lyrics also describe how society is desensitized to violence, as the victim's voice is not heard, and their pain is just another noise, like the thunder of rain. The lyrics suggest a society where people have become so used to hearing about and seeing violence that it no longer moves them or inspires any reaction. The singer is not sorry about what happened, nor do they express any feelings of guilt or responsibility, illustrating the idea that people have become indifferent and callous.
Overall, the lyrics of Why? express the singer's disillusionment with society and its increasing indifference towards others. They critique how we have become desensitized to violence and unmoved by the pain of others.
