Creepin' In

That's gone right through the sole
Of this old shoe
And the water on the ground
Ain't got no place else it found
So it's only got one thing left to do
Creep on inCreep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in
There's a silver moon
That came just a little soon
For me to bare
Shines brightly on my bed
And the shadows overhead
Won't let me sleep as long as they're there
Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has beguun
Won't stop until it'd done
Sneaking in
There's a big ol' hole
That goes right through my sole
And that ain't nothing new
So long as you're around
And got no place else you've found
There's only one thing left to do
Creep on in
And once you have begun
Don't stop until you're done
Sneaking in
In "Creepin' In," Norah Jones sings about being unable to resist the allure of a person who she's attracted to. She uses the metaphor of a hole in her shoe to represent the vulnerability that she feels, saying that the water on the ground has nowhere to go but inside her shoe. She then compares this vulnerability to feelings of desire, saying that once the creeping has begun, it won't stop until it's done.
The silver moon that appears too soon and keeps Jones awake at night is a metaphorical representation of the ever-present temptation of the person she desires. No matter what she does, she cannot get rid of the temptation, but instead has to accept it and allow it to creep in.
The chorus of the song – “Creep on in” – further emphasizes her inability to resist the temptation. The repetition of the chorus, combined with the upbeat tempo and catchy melody of the song, create a feeling of inevitability that mirrors the unstoppable creeping of desire.
Overall, the lyrics of "Creepin' In" are a poetic and relatable exploration of the complexities of human desire and vulnerability.

on The Nearness of You
The Nearness Of You - Camille Thurman -Lyrics
Its not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams do come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you
Saxophone Musical Interlude
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness, the nearness of you
