It's Not Christmas 'Til You Come Home
Norah Jones Lyrics

'Til you make it home to me
The snow isn't white, the stars aren't bright
And lights don't belong on the tree
I'll stay up all night waiting
For you on Christmas Eve
The sleigh bells won't ring, Bing Crosby won't sing
I won't believe it's Christmas
'Til you walk through that door
There's no Tiny Tim and Santa is slim
And mistletoe's hung on the floor
I made a promise to you
To wait for your return
The snowflakes won't fall
We can't deck the halls
It's not Christmas 'til you come home
The snowflakes won't fall
We can't deck the halls
It's not Christmas 'til you come home
Norah Jones's song It's Not Christmas 'Til You Come Home expresses the longing and love of someone awaiting the arrival of their loved one in order to fully experience the joy and magic of Christmas. The first verse states that the snow isn't white, the stars aren't bright, and lights don't belong on the tree until the person comes home. The second verse continues to describe the incomplete feeling of Christmas without the person, emphasizing that without them, famous Christmas icons such as Bing Crosby and Santa Claus seem not the same. Lastly, the chorus repeats that the snow won't fall, the halls won't be decked, and it won't truly be Christmas until the person comes home.
The song is a slow, gentle jazz ballad that is both melancholic and hopeful in tone. Jones's voice is soothing yet emotive, conveying the lyrics with depth and sincerity. The song paints a vivid picture of a person alone on Christmas Eve, waiting eagerly for their loved one's return. Despite the sadness of being alone, there is a sense of anticipation and excitement for the moment when Christmas truly starts with the arrival of the beloved.

on The Nearness of You
The Nearness Of You - Camille Thurman -Lyrics
Its not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams do come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you
Saxophone Musical Interlude
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness, the nearness of you
