And when I'm older
I will not forget
That once I had a laugh
And when I'm tired
I will not forget
That once I had a laugh
And when I'm fallin'
That once I had a laugh
Oh oh oh oh
Once I had a laugh
And now I'm older
But I will not forget
That once I had a laugh
And now I'm fallin'
But I will not forget
That once I had a laugh
I hear you callin'
But it's not over yet
'Cause once I had a laugh
Oh oh oh oh
Ah ah oh oh oh oh
In Norah Jones's song "Once I Had A Laugh", the artist reflects on the importance of laughter and memories as one ages. The repeated phrase "once I had a laugh" is a poignant reminder to not take life too seriously and to treasure moments of joy. The lyrics suggest an acceptance of aging and the inevitable challenges that come with it, but the singer is determined to hold onto happy memories and not let go of the things that bring them joy.
The song's simplicity and repetitive nature add to its emotional impact. The slow, somber melody allows the listener to focus on the lyrics and the message of the song. The repeated "oh oh oh" and "ah ah oh oh oh oh" serve as a haunting refrain, emphasizing the importance of the memories being referenced.
Overall, "Once I Had A Laugh" is a beautiful and emotional song that captures the bittersweet nature of growing older. It speaks to the power of memories and the importance of laughter in our lives.

on The Nearness of You
The Nearness Of You - Camille Thurman -Lyrics
Its not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams do come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you
Saxophone Musical Interlude
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness, the nearness of you
