Seven Years
Norah Jones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Her favorite song
A little girl with nothing wrong
Is all alone
Eyes wide open
Always hoping for the sun
And she'll sing her song to anyone
Fragile as a leaf in autumn
Just fallin' to the ground
Without a sound
Crooked little smile on her face
Tells a tale of grace
That's all her own
Fragile as a leaf in autumn
Just fallin' to the ground
Without a sound
Spinning, laughing, dancing to her
Favorite song
Well, she's a little girl with nothing wrong
And she's all alone
A little girl with nothing wrong
And she's all alone
The lyrics of the Norah Jones song "Seven Years" describe a young girl who is carefree for the moment but is essentially lonely. The girl seems to be lost in her own world, singing and dancing to her favorite song, surrounded by people, yet alone. As the song progresses, we learn that the girl is fragile and vulnerable like a leaf falling to the ground, and her crooked smile is a symbol of the grace she possesses, even in the face of hardship.
The song speaks to the human desire for connection and highlights the loneliness that sometimes accompanies us despite being surrounded by others. Through her lyrics, Norah Jones captures the innocence, beauty, and grace of the little girl who is lost in her thoughts but still hopeful for the future. on The Nearness of You
The Nearness Of You - Camille Thurman -Lyrics
Its not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams do come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you
Saxophone Musical Interlude
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness, the nearness of you
