The Long Day Is Over
Norah Jones Lyrics

Feeling tired
By the fire
The long day is over

The wind is gone
Asleep at dawn
The embers burn on

With no reprise
The sun will rise
The long day is over

Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh,
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky.

Now the darkness gathers,
Stars begin to peep,
Birds, and beasts and flowers
Soon will be asleep.

Jesus, give the weary
Calm and sweet repose;
With Thy tenderest blessing
May mine eyelids close.

Grant to little children
Visions bright of Thee;
Guard the sailors tossing
On the deep, blue sea.

Comfort those who suffer,
Watching late in pain;
Those who plan some evil
From their sin restrain.

Through the long night watches
May Thine angels spread
Their white wings above me,
Watching round my bed.

When the morning wakens,
Then may I arise
Pure, and fresh, and sinless
In Thy holy eyes.

Glory to the Father,
Glory to the Son,
And to Thee, blest Spirit,
While all ages run.

Does the road wind up-hill all the way?
   Yes, to the very end.
Will the day’s journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.

But is there for the night a resting-place?
A roof for when the slow dark hours begin.
May not the darkness hide it from my face?
   You cannot miss that inn.

Shall I meet other wayfarers at night?
   Those who have gone before.
Then must I knock, or call when just in sight?
They will not keep you standing at that door.

Shall I find comfort, travel-sore and weak?
Of labour you shall find the sum.
Will there be beds for me and all who seek?
Yea, beds for all who come.(Christina Rosetti)

You must be a strong person. Death is part of life but is always hard to move forward. Close your eyes and smile at your beloveds.

Prayers and grace to you, God is in control and knows what you have been through. Perhaps your experiences will encourage and inspire others, keep your eyes open for those opportunities :)

This song is etched in my memory. I was deployed to Iraq in 2005 as a member of a convoy escort unit responsible for protecting vehicles that carried materials and goods between bases. We would often spend 16-18 hours on the road each day. It was mentally and physically exhausting. We experienced things I'd never wish on anyone. With the toll it took on us we'd do our best to find ways to relax and mend our souls when we could. My approach would be to listen to relaxing music and I would inevitably listen to this song after every mission because it spoke to me and healed me.

Dystopia sir you should shut your soft ass up I don't understand why people can't share an opinion on a social media platform without being condemned because they have a different belief than someone and we wonder why the world is so hostile it's because of people's inability to accept outside of thier beliefs you don't like war I get it I respect you all the same you think we shouldn't be there I respect you all the same do I agree no does it make me dislike you for believing something different not at all maybe it wasn't his choice maybe he went to feed his family or to pay for school he didn't sign the boots on the ground order he was just trying to be relatable dont attack him
