Things You Don

Fallin' down
I don't miss you at all
I hear children playin', laughin' so loud
I don't think of your smile
So if you never come to me
You'll stay a distant memory
Your dark eyes don't haunt me
And then I wonder who I am
Without the warm touch of your hand
And then I wonder who I am
Without the warm touch of your hand
As I sit and watch the snow
Fallin' down
I don't miss you at all
I don't miss you at all
I don't miss you at all
The lyrics of Norah Jones & The Handsome Band's song "Don't Miss You At All" speak of the aftermath of a break-up. The opening lines describe the setting of the song - the singer is watching snow falling down, and it's a beautiful sight. This contrasts with the absence of the person she used to be with since she states that she doesn't miss him at all. Even when she hears children playing and laughing loudly, she doesn't think of his smile, it seems like the memories of him have faded away. She makes peace with the idea of him being a distant memory, knowing that if he never comes back, she's okay with it.
However, a moment of introspection follows, and she wonders who she is without him - without the warmth of his touch. It shows that even though she's okay with his absence, she's not entirely over him. The repetition of the line "I don't miss you at all" feels like a mantra, something she's convincing herself of, and in the end, it seems like she's trying to convince herself that she's over him.
Overall, the song's tone is reflective, and the lyrics show that the singer is still working through the emotions of heartbreak. She's come a long way and has found moments of solace and tranquillity, but she's not entirely unaffected by the break-up.

As I sit and watch the snow
As I calmly observe the snow falling from the sky
Fallin' down
Descending gracefully from above
I don't miss you at all
I feel no emotional longing or nostalgic ache for you
I hear children playin', laughin' so loud
The sounds of joyful kids fills the air
I don't think of your smile
Your facial expression doesn't even come to my mind
So if you never come to me
If we never meet again
You'll stay a distant memory
You'll be a faint recollection of the past
Out my window I see lights going dark
I observe lights extinguishing in the distance
Your dark eyes don't haunt me
Your gaze no longer troubles me
And then I wonder who I am
I ponder my own identity
Without the warm touch of your hand
Without experiencing the sensation of your hand on mine
As I sit and watch the snow
As I continue to observe the falling snow
Fallin' down
Gliding to the ground
I don't miss you at all
I am still not experiencing any sense of longing for you
I don't miss you at all
My detachment from you is still strong
I don't miss you at all
I remain emotionally unaffected by your absence
