After singing lead vocals on the band's self-titled debut album in 1977, she left for a solo career the following year, releasing the Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards-produced Norma Jean album. The "High Society"/"Hold Me Lonely Boy" single followed in late 1979.

Norma Jean Wright performed this song on Soul Train episode 274, on November 4th, 1978. This is as far as I know her only TV performance at that time performing a song from her CHIC Organization produced first solo album. If anyone can find that performance it would be a real scoop!
