The most beautiful song this year in my opinion, and the vocals are magical. I must admit that when I saw the live performance I was filled with tears. But unfortunately I think that it's overqualified for the Eurovision. Way too emotional, way too intelligent. It's like playing classical music in a nightclub. In any case I hope it'll go well for you, good luck from Israel!

strange shadow well I don't really mind the cheap pop songs, I think that is what making Eurovision fun. :) Of course I'm very happy when there are really good songs like "blackbird", though it's sad some of them don't get the appreciation they deserve.

I agree. I mean, I bet you 90% of the people who saw this video and heard the lyrics don't even realize what the song is about. Blackbirds signify death, singing bellow her window means beckoning her, and the video clearly shows she's dying but also trying to be useful by helping the dude retrieve something. This is CLASSIC behavior and thought pattern of a suicidal depressive. Begging for death not to beckon them, all the while waiting for a chance to die, but not wanting to go out without a reason, so finding any reason possible. It's incredibly intelligent and sad.

The lyrics speak of a blackbird that sings at her window and when she had a loved one. That loved one has gone and she no longer wants the blackbird to come to her as it is a painful reminder of a lost love. That's the literal interpretation of the lyrics. It's a haunting song.

Did we really need this explanation tho? You simply repeated the exactly same thing the lyrics say, only in a prose form.
It's the music video that needs an explanation, not the lyrics which are obvious! The video, on the other hand, rises so many questions... like what does she search in the water? Why is the color gamma so dark? What does the piano stand for? Why does it transform into a coffin at the end?

I can't even describe how I feel when I listen to this song. Extremely beautiful and melancholic. I always end up crying while listening to it. Brings me lots of memories and takes me to that sorrowful and depressed yet pleasing and delightful scenario. After this has won UMK and became 5th entry in ESC 2017, it was by far my favorite. Now, with 42 songs in, this is still my second (only to Italy) and has that magic to go far in the contest. If Finland doesn't nab Top 10 with this, something is wrong with ESC. All the best and huge congratulations from Croatia. I am sure this must pass the semi and then, I'll vote in the finals.
