After a few months, the band managed to find another rehearsal place, and began looking for members to complete their line-up. After quite a few auditions, they were unable to find musicians that they deemed fit to play with them, and thus went on a hiatus, which lasted until the beginning of 2000, when they met guitarist Kristian Ranta. The band became active once more, and with the help of two brothers who were friends of Lindroos - Sebastian and Joakim Ekroos - the band recorded their first demo, for the first time using the name Norther. A promising demo led to them signing a deal with Spinefarm Records.
Due to internal problems, the Ekroos brothers quit the band; this lead Norther into finding its first stable formation when bassist Jukka Koskinen and keyboardist Tuomas Planman were incorporated into the band.
Norther received a positive response from specialized press after the release of the album Dreams of Endless War. Following this, the band maintained a prolific release schedule, releasing the albums "Mirror of Madness" (2003), "Death Unlimited" (2004), and "Till Death Unites Us" (2006), as well as the singles "Released" (2002), "Unleash Hell" (2003), "Spreading Death" (2003), and Scream (2006), the MiniDVD single Spreading Death, an EP titled Solution 7 (2005) and most lately EP "No Way Back" (2007). A full length album is planned to be recorded in August-September 2007, it was released in Finland in early autumn 2008 carrying name the "N".
In October of 2005, drummer Toni Hallio left the band, leaving guitarist/vocalist Lindroos as the only remaining original member. Hallio was replaced by Heikki Saari, drummer of Virtuocity.
Petri Lindroos left the band in 2009 because his other band Ensiferum took most of his time. Aleksi Sihvonen was hired as the new singer and Daniel Freyberg as the second guitarist. Norther entered Astia studios on October 5, 2010 to record a new album, ''Circle Regenerated'' which was released April 19 2011.
On 24th of July 2012 the band announced on their website that the members have decided to quit Norther because of time issues. The band played its last show on the 10th of August at Brutal Assault Festival 2012 in the Czech Republic.

Scream
Norther Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The world hates me I know
Now I'm out, now I'm done
They are staring at me I know
Sad and true without you
Feeling inside is cruel
Reflection, deflection
Picture inside is addle
Scream, scream out my heart
Scream, scream it out tonight
Now it's gone, now it's true
Alone in the world I know
Still I'm sad still it feels bad
No one's waiting I know
Sad but true without you
Good times in my mind
Oppression affliction
Scene inside is getting better
The lyrics in Norther's "Scream" convey a sense of despair and isolation. The singer seems to have reached a breaking point – "now it's done, now it's through" – and is aware that the world hates them. They express a feeling of being watched, as if everyone is staring at them. Despite trying to move on and being alone, they can't escape their sadness and the weight of their past experiences. The line "sad but true without you" suggests a sense of loss and longing, possibly for someone who has left or died.
The chorus, where the singer repeatedly screams out their heart, seems to be a release of pent-up emotions. The use of the word "scream" creates a visceral image of someone yelling their pain out into the void. It's a raw expression of the intense emotions that the singer is feeling, and perhaps a way to try and exorcise them.
Overall, the lyrics of "Scream" depict an individual who is struggling with feelings of sadness and isolation. They have been hurt in some way, and are trying to move on but finding it difficult. However, the chorus suggests that there may be a glimmer of hope – if they can just scream out their pain, maybe they can start to heal.

2020 I'm seeing clearly that this still fucking rocks!

Anterior Ripped this song off with their song "This Age of Silence."
Sufi Iskandar
I wouldn't say they ripped it off... Maybe a tribute? Anterior is still a great band and songs like Dead Divine and The Silent Divide reflect this.

Not gonna be a poser and edit my comment, I hadn't listened to This Age of Silence in like 2 years. I usually jam Echoes when I wanna hear Anterior. Ashamed of myself that I didn't notice this upon the 2-3 playthroughs of that album. I digress, it's EXACT! However, if it was a band like Five Finger Death Punch or Lamb of God that ripped it, I would probably be a bit angry since Norther is my favorite aggressive Finnish band, which is saying a lot. I jam Norther on a more regular basis than Anterior. But it's not like Anterior said "hey, let's try to get famous off of this Norther riff" it's clearly an homage. They have PLENTY of original compositions that set them apart. RIP to both bands, sad that we live in a world where shit like this is not adored globally. Meanwhile, shit artists like Sean Paul and 6ix9ine are still making hits lol.
Quick top 5:
Norther - Fuck You, YDKS, Deep Inside, Always & Never, Cry
Fav Anterior song, By Horror Haunted.
Had to represent all albums except first and last. I could easily sit here and rate a top 20, not a bad song from Norther. At least Ensiferum is still rocking. Would love to have a full length Norther DVD from the tour for the 3rd, 4th, or 5th albums. Still holding onto Spreading Death for like 15 years.
Was introduced to Norther by the Spinefarm website back around the time that Death Unltd dropped. The tagline wrote "CoB sister band" I think. From that point, they surpassed CoB in my mind. If they were still cranking out albums with Petri, I would still value them well over Bodom. Not that Bodom isn't awesome af.
Holy shit this comment is long, longest I have ever written, if you are still reading this, thanks for reading my book of Norther and please stay metal, comrades!

Dude, I never noticed, but I'm a huge fan of Anterior, and they're beast. Both bands are awesome, they probably didn't do so intentionally.
