Inside the Devil
Nosferatu Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If ya come inside I can't help outside
You can't cry but you won't need to
Baby has found a way to surround
Surround herself in sorrow
If ya come inside I can't help outside
You should learn And God you'll need to
Baby has found the way to survive yeah Baby has found the solace
Get down, down, down inside the Devil
Get down, down, down inside the sun

If ya pick up things that don't belong
Something you will need to borrow
Your baby has found her God above
Yeah baby until tomorrow

If ya come inside I won't help outside
You can't cry You don't love
Baby has found her God above
Yeah baby don't need tomorrow

Get down, down, down inside the Devil
Get down, down, down inside the sun
I guess I know

Come see the fish on the waves
Call it fun I don't know
If your wish or desire should take hold and bury you
Under the earth

Under the earth
Under the earth

Overall Meaning

The song “Inside the Devil” by Nosferatu speaks of a woman who has found a way to survive her sorrow by immersing herself in it. The lyrics imply that if someone enters her world, they cannot offer help from the outside. The person should learn to deal with their own problems and seek God’s help. The chorus suggests moving downward to get inside the Devil or the sun, creating a sense of descending into a different world.

The lines “If ya pick up things that don't belong, Something you will need to borrow” suggests that the person may find themselves in possession of something they do not need and may need assistance to rid themselves of it. However, the woman’s faith helps her get through the day, and she doesn't need to worry about tomorrow. The last lines “Come see the fish on the waves, Call it fun, I don't know, If your wish or desire should take hold and bury you, Under the earth” are open to interpretation, but may suggest that there is more to life than what we experience at the surface level. One may need to dig deeper and descend to unexplored depths to find true meaning.
