have to try and
make myself see
that I'm in charge
used to think
that getting older
now I know that
if I want that
I'll have to run this race
nothing left to lose
and everything to gain
The lyrics of "Nothing Left To Lose" by Nothing Done impart a feeling of frustration and hopelessness amidst the passage of time, the realization that no one else will be there to save you, and that it is up to oneself to take charge and move forward. The song also brings up the idea of getting older and the association of becoming more established, but the reality that one has to fight and work for that place. The final lines of the chorus "nothing left to lose, and everything to gain" suggest that the persona has hit rock bottom or a dead end, and that there is only one way to go from there-on and, that is up.
