Up to you
Nothing Done Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
skate whatever you can find
grinding slappies all day long
humming all your favorite songs
land tricks after many tries
slapping high fives with the guys
drinking cokes and eating shit
skate and destroy
or skate to create?
it's up to you!
The lyrics of "Up to You" by Nothing Done describe the world of skateboarding and the different attitudes one can have towards it. The first few lines mention some common skateboarding tricks like kickflip boardslide, 5-0 grind, and slappies, and how skaters will skate anything they can find. The next lines talk about the joy of cruising and humming along to your favorite tunes while skating.
The lyrics also depict the struggles that skaters go through in trying to nail certain tricks and the camaraderie that develops between skaters as they slap high fives and share sodas. The final lines of the song present two contrasting attitudes towards skating: "skate and destroy" or "skate to create?" This suggests that skating can be seen as a destructive activity that is all about aggression and pushing limits, or it can be seen as a creative outlet that allows individuals to express themselves through their skating style. Ultimately, the lyrics of "Up to You" leave it up to the listener to decide which perspective on skating they find more appealing.

Good things that worked for me:
Write the list with an indicative time for the activity
Write it the day before or at the new week/day
Make sure to not stay with anything to do (even relax can be something to do)
Have 1 important thing that makes you feel good/proud
Try to build a hobby that requires concentration, reading/learning something/staying informed. I found that this one makes easier to focus on others low-passion subjects.
Also: don't give up, tomorrow is way closer than never

What helps me is...
Breaking down the huge mountain of tasks into small tasks. Also preparing what I want to do today, tomorrow, next week or even the entire month.
For school, I made a simple but effective excel table. It helps me keep track of all my tasks because it can get overwhelming very easily.
Take things day by day. Doing nothing is bad. But you do not have to make everything today. But it is possible to plan any necessary activity for a certain day or you will probably find an alternative timeslow if you cannot make it the first time.
At the end of the day I like reflecting about the day I have just finished. Focus on the good things and also on what I have accomplished. And that can be really small and insignifcant things. Like going to this place and buying that product or taking care of this thing. It may be annoying at first having to leave your sofa and cozy home going out but it is totally worth doing it.
Taking care of what is necessary will help you enjoy your couch time even more.

It also helps to write down how much time you think it will take you for each task.
Small tasks can be grouped together and be done in approximately 1 hour or 30 min.
Then all you need is to block that time in your day to do just those small tasks.
We only have 24 hours in one day, 7-8 hours of which is spent on sleep.
Substract time you spend on general everyday tasks like cooking, eating, getting ready for work, driving, showering etc.
Knowing when you actually have time makes it easier to do that one task.
The rest is focus and ability to concentrate on doing it.
The longer we hold our focus on what we're doing, the more we progress in accomplishing the task.

When it comes to procrastination, the hardest part is getting started. But once you get started with it, it's usually not as bad as you imagined it in your head!

AP classes made me realize this very quickly haha
The workload at first seems like a lot, but when you buckle down and spend an hour or two you are done! And almost always I feel proud of finishing what Iāve done, a small reward for doing my work :)

Even though you've probably written this with the best intentions this platitude is the equivalent of "Being poor? Start making money!". I deeply despise everybody upvoting this.
