Novo Amor is Portuguese for New Love. The artist confirmed in a tweet that the name had a "Portuguese/Latin" origin and stated in an interview that he went through a break-up in 2012 before he started producing, and that led to this name as he found his "New Love" in Music.
On 26 May 2017, Bathing Beach, the second of Novo Amor's EPs, was released via AllPoints, the in-house label of Believe Recordings.
On 19 October 2018, Lacey released his debut solo record Birthplace.

Thieve it, believe it, so I wouldn't need it
Be it naive, if I couldn't see it
Leave it, repeat it
If I could be fearless now
I've fallen for it
It's foreign, the feeling's ours
Fallen for it, fallen for it somehow
Fallen for it, fallen for it somehow
Fallen for it, fallen for it somehow
Time won't make it right, I know that
I can't make it mine, I know that
Time won't make it right, I know that
I can't make it mine, I know that
Time won't make it right, I know that
I can't make it mine, I'm over
Time won't make it right, I know that
I can't make it right, I'm over
The song "Anniversary" by Novo Amor is all about the complexities of love and the challenge of navigating through the trials and tribulations that come with it. The first verse talks about the power of dream and belief, even in the face of adversity. The singer tells us that we need to keep dreaming and believing, even if we can't be there to physically experience it. We need to "thieve" it and "believe" it, even if we don't actually have it in our possession. The singer advises us to be naive if we can't see it, because sometimes it's easier to believe in something that might not exist, than to give in to the harsh reality of the world.
The song then goes on to talk about the idea of fearlessness and how powerful it can be. The singer admits that he's "fallen for it", meaning that he's fallen for the idea of being fearless, even though it's scary and foreign. He's fallen for it somehow, and he knows that time won't make it right. The song's chorus repeats this idea of life's impermanence and how sometimes we can't control what happens to us. We can't make it ours, we can't make it right, and we need to learn to let go and move on.
Overall, the song is a poignant exploration of the human condition, and the idea that love (and life, in general) is simultaneously beautiful and painful. It encourages us to hold onto hope and belief, even when we feel like giving up, and to embrace the complexities of our emotions and experiences.

This song taught me to merge the happy memories with the ones that hurt like a knife, and it taught me acceptance of pain. It got me through my worst by hurting me with the words, and then helping me heal. Forever grateful.
