Le Blues du Fugitif
Nuttea Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Refrain
Nuttea's song "Le Blues du Fugitif" talks about a life full of struggles and hardships. The lyrics depict the singer's fear of running aimlessly towards an uncertain destination. The idea of running away is a metaphor for escaping the reality of misery and poverty, which haunts the community. The chorus "Ouvrez les portes de Zion, laissez Jah entrez" (Open the gates of Zion, let Jah in) is a call for salvation and liberation from the suffering of the current life, and an invitation to enter the heavenly kingdom.
In the second verse, the singer admits to embracing escapism fully, as they cannot control their future despite their struggles. The line "Je danserais même au bord du ravin, et juste avant ce crash, je chanterais ce refrain" (I would even dance on the edge of the cliff and just before the crash, I would sing this refrain) emphasizes the character's acceptance of the harsh reality and their willingness to face it fearlessly. The final verse is a tribute to those who helped him along the way on his journey to escape.
This song highlights the theme of escape from a challenging life and the desire to find hope through divine intervention. It also illustrates the close relationship between the Rastafarian faith and the idea of overcoming hardships through Jah's guidance. Nuttea's soulful delivery and poignant lyrics make this an unforgettable track.
