Without doubt Nyoy and his group the Mannos are now one of the countrys most sought-after singers and Nyoy credit that to sound management of their career by first-time talent manager Hanzel Villafuerte. In the last six months when he started managing us, we have achieved quite a lot career-wise, Nyoy said. Nagkaroon kami ng album, ng maraming gigs; na kung minsan tatlo o apat sa isang araw. In fact today, that was Sept. 24, at Maxs at the Tutuban Prime Block in Divisoria where a press conference was held for Nyoy and the Mannos for their Oct. 10 concert at Music Museum, apat ang gigs namin.
Hanzel confirmed that indeed on that day, Nyoy and Mannos were scheduled for four performances. They are most especially sought-after among students, Hanzel said. Kaya para sa kanila, sleep is luxury these days. Because ika nga, we are taking advantage of their popularity. As they say, strike while the iron is hot. Alam naman natin na sa showbiz, nothing is permanent or forever, so popularity could wane anytime. Hanzel revealed that he was not into managing talents before, this is his first venture into this kind of job, but when he heard Nyoy sings, he said may potential ito, kahit di guwapo so I accepted the challenge. Hindi ako nagsisi. Kasi naman kapag may genuine talent ang isang tao, madaling i-promote, kagaya ni Nyoy.
Today, Nyoy Volante and Mannos are local music scenes hottest acoustic act. In July this year, the group released their debut album under Vicor Music Corp. From the album was culled the carrier singles, Nasaan and What Do I Do, both composed by Nyoy, and which reached gold record status after only a few weeks in the market. The success of the album was capped by Nyoys winning the Best New Male Artist honor at the Aliw Awards 2003.
