"Nytt Land" means "A new country" in Norwegain.
Notably outstanding on the Russian scene and largely compared with the legendary Wardruna, NYTT LAND are unique in their devotion to the ritual Northern music and tradition that comes along with a great talent. Their almost reenacting approach, genuine native hand-crafted instruments and colossal enthusiasm help them to grasp the true spirit of ancient Northern music like no one in Eastern Europe has done before.

Vindum, vindum
Vef Darraðar,
Þanns ungr konungr
Átti fyrri.
Fram skulum ganga
Þars vinir órir
Vápnum skipta.
Vindum, vindum
Vef Darraðar
Ok siklingi
Síðan fylgjum.
Þar séa bragna
Blóðgar randir
Gunnr ok Göndul,
Þærs grami fylgðu.
Vindum, vindum
Vef Darraðar,
Þars vé vaða
Vígra manna.
Látum eigi
Líf hans farask.
Eigu valkyrjur
Vals of kosti.
The lyrics of "Ritual" by Nytt Land describe a scene of preparation for battle, with references to Norse mythology and a sense of solemnity and reverence. The first four lines mention the wind and the weaving of Darraðar's web, which is likely a reference to the Norns, the fates who weaved the threads of destiny. The following lines describe the warriors going forth and exchanging weapons with their comrades. The next stanza mentions the Valkyries Gunnr and Göndul, who were believed to choose warriors to take to Valhalla after they died in battle. The final stanza emphasizes the importance of not letting the king's life end and not letting the Valkyries have any choice but to select him for Valhalla.
