Truth
O.E.S. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tell the children the truth!
Tell the children the motherfuckin' truth! [Repeat x2]

Your pussy band sounds just like shit
You're not punk rock
You're more like a punk trick
You corporate motherfuckers all suck a dick
I'm an anti-motherfuckin' social independent

Fuck the life
I don't want a thing
You buy, you sell, you suck, you pig
Fuck the world
You're a lost consumer
You buy, you sell, you suck, you pig

You sold your time, your soul to Cosmo
In love with a name tag
How bout this toe tag
You got raped by the fags on TV
And the TV got raped by the FCC

Fuck the life
I don't want a thing
You buy, you sell, you suck, you pig
Fuck the world
You're a lost consumer
You buy, you sell, you suck, you pig

I can't fuckin' stand you fuckin' pigs
How do you bite the hand that feeds?
How can I walk away?
How do you bite the hand that feeds?
How can I walk away with this?
How do you bite the hand that feeds?
How can I walk away?
How do you bite the hand that feeds?
I can't let them get away with this!

No I'm not just a nigga
I'm a punk rock nigga
So you know I got nothin to lose
I'd rather pull the trigga
And take away my own life
Before I hand it over to you
I can do it

Fuck the life
I don't want a thing
You buy, you sell, you suck, you pig
Fuck the world
You're a lost consumer
You buy, you sell, you suck, you pig

No! I can't live like that! [Repeat x2])
No way! I can't live like that!
I can do it!
I can do it!

You are not what you own! [Repeat x4]

Overall Meaning

The song "Truth" by O.E.S. is a powerful message to the youth of society. The lyrics call for truth to be spoken to children, regardless of how ugly or painful that truth may be. The repetition of "Tell the children the truth!" emphasizes the importance of honesty in shaping the future.

The song then moves on to criticize mainstream society, particularly the corporate world and its emphasis on consumerism. The line "You buy, you sell, you suck, you pig" is a scathing attack on corporate greed and the idea that everything has a price. The lyrics also criticize the influence of television and the Federal Communications Commission on the media, suggesting that the public is being raped by both.

The final section of the song shifts focus to the artist's personal struggle to find an identity in society. The lines "No I'm not just a nigga / I'm a punk rock nigga" are a rejection of societal labels and an assertion of individuality. The repeated phrase "I can do it!" is a message of hope and empowerment in the face of adversity.

Overall, "Truth" is a song that speaks to the disillusionment and frustration felt by many in modern society. It calls for honesty, rejects conformity, and encourages the youth to take control of their own lives and destinies.

To God be the glory. We were honored to share our testimonies with our fellow brother and sisters in Christ. Thank you Endia for your obedience to God's instruction to create a place for support and information as we "come out from among them", and help spread God's love and his power to set the captives free!

Thank you for watching!

Exodus 20:3-6 comes to mind hearing everyone's testimony; this is profound- thank you!

One of the things that I also recognize is that in Luke 12:3 it states "Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops." The intentions of our ❤ is what God (YHWH) hears; I was actually considering reclaiming my so-called statuses in the lodge and fraternity, but the holy spirit confirmed through this video that I'm good- thank you God for using everyone in this video to show your grace & mercy... Amen

@outfromamongthem

Praise JESUS on your receiving confirmation not to go back into the lodge and fraternity! Thank you so much for sharing Phillip. Stand strong in The Lord, as HE is ALL we need. If you have not done so, please ensure to repent, renounce, and withdraw. It's imperative to fully separate from things not of The Lord...2 Corinthians 6:15-18. This was an exceptional video. Especially the part about the Bible being directions on how to navigate throughout this life and the part about soul ties and being bound to another spiritually through fornication and sexual immorality.
