Once again, great job on the rap. It's really good to see people start to recognize mythology for what it is when it comes to songs of any kind and yours is far and above one of the most accurate portrayals of Sun Wukong I have had a pleasure of listening to in any media. Music was great, flowed really well and the lyrics brought everybody's favorite mokey king to life. What's more important to me was how accurate everything you talked about was and, as i said before, i was absolutely not dissapointed. Same as in the "Mythos" video, there are mistakes but you make up for it with production value
You did a great job with references to his achievments and personality. Loved the diddy reference btw. When you talk about his exploits i love the mention of the Heavenly rampage he did before he got a mountain dropped on him. Also the reference to Jingu Bang (the magical size changing pillar that Sun uses as a weapon) and how he always has it on him (cause he shrinks it down for easy carry) was well placed. Nice play on the title of the "Great Sage Equall to Heaven", well done as well as mentioning the 500 year time skip while he was under a mountain. Drawing a reference to his birth, his strenght and the fact that Journey to the West left such an impacting legacy was really well done. The entire flow ending with the death note part is why i praise you for your accuracy, even if i do have some gripes. He is impolsive and does what he wants when he wants it and you ended it with him ereasing his name from the book of the dead which was his 2nd way of cheating death. So, totally on point. And yeah Sun is super op, only wanted to lazy around and neither Luffy nor Goku can stand up to him. Mentioning Laozi and the furnace as well as the fact he rides a nimbus, amazing stuff.
The praise might seem wierd but i was typing as i was listening to the song. You did an outstanding job for the majority of it. I did find couple of things that were not exactly accurate. Now it could be just me not understanding what you were trying to say but fro. My understanding they were inaccurate all the same with one smalle nitpick that, arguably, there was no way you could have known.
-> So the funny part, actually, Sun was an 8-fold immortal monkey. At the end of his journey, among the 7 immortalities he got, he ate food directly meant for Buddah meaning he gained another layer of immortality from it.
-> Important thing to note here is that, i get the play on words i really do, but he wasn't born from a fruit and you did mention this later down the line. He was born from a magic rock that was sitting atop of Mountain of Flower and Fruit. I get what you were going for, but you could have worded it a bit better.
-> "Call me a savior you can't be more honest" is a line that.....i don't know if i am missunderstanding or not but Sun was anything except a savior. Sure he helped Sanzang and was a king to his monkey band of missfits, but he did a lot of stuff that was really plain evil. And i am not even talking about pre-500 year imprisonment. Before the 500 year skip he ate people, went to war over bureaucracy, insulet buddah, etc. This is well known sp i am not going to go into too many details. When he became Sanzang's protector and disciple, he would kill anything that posed even a remote threat to anybody in the group, and he would do it with glee. Sun destroys a priceless heavenly tree laden with immortality-bestowing fruits simply because the guardians won’t share. He flaid people for fun in front of Sanzang to prove a point. Some killings were justified but he was not a savior. Also the chorus is kind of semi-inaccurate. He didn't protect people per say. Again before the 500 year skip, he ate them alive. It's easy to forget but sun is actually a divine demon, not a divine monkey. Like he is absolutely not a hero. The protagonist of Journey to the West, sure. But a hero? Absolutely not.
Overall i stand by my assessment. You did a wonderful job bringing the monkey king to life and you deserve all the praise for that. I still think "Mythos" was more accurate and as such i can't rate this higher than a 9, but still you did an amazing job and i really can't wait to hear your next mythology based rap.
