Orbs is the coming together of friends with the common goal of opening up their minds to every creative possibility in and outside of each song, challenging the common perception of how a song should be structured, and providing an opportunity for the members to explore common interests in matters of science and wanting to better understand and build a better relationship with the nature / animal community.
Fisher's lyrics offer a creative writing palette to help bridge the music with the ideology of the band, with each song presented as a vivid story telling experience where questions are posed and often answered in the form of different characters within a song.
The band finished writing and demoing the songs for their debut full length in the the summer of 2008 and added Clayton West Holyoak (Fear Before) on drums, and Chuck Johnson (Nightbear) on bass, and entered The Basement recording studio in Winston-Salem, NC with producer / engineer Jamie King and recorded the 9 song, 66 minute album in January-February 2009.
The band takes a similar sound of the progressive rock of Between the Buried and Me and the later experimental sound from Fear Before the March of Flames.

Lost At Sea
ORBS Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This is not a test!
You are really dying friend.
Bet it feels like a panic attack but!
This is not a test!
This is not a test!
It may be lucid and it may be wet.
You're really dying. Can you feel it yet?
For if you don't I'm going to rip them right off.
Not because I have to or because you're misbehaving.
I just know how bad you need to get off
...Oh, and one other thing...
I absolutely hate that sweater and your life is our reality T.V.
You were put here to entertain, so get up and entertain me!
PANIC YOU SICK SON OF A BITCH!
SQUIRM YOU LITTLE WEASEL
CAUSE I'M PAYING FOR THIS AND I WANT MY 20 DOLLARS WORTH.
You're a sad and lonely character now aren't you boy?
Adrift in the middle of a wet dream.
Unwilling participant lost at sea.
You think you had it bad...
Well now it's worsening.
spaghetti arms for oars!
dropping anchor just to find some whores!
Your bed a sad and lonely vessel,
your sheets a mess of veins and kelp...
This is not a test.
(It's really not you lonely simpleton)
I salute your panic attack.
One small step for man.
I take it back.
I salute your panic attack.
One small step for man.
No shame in that.
I salute your panic attack.
Pathetic jelly fish you spineless hack.
I salute your spinal collapse.
Are there any bones inside that back?
The lyrics to ORBS' "Lost at Sea" are a poignant exploration of the human experience of panic and isolation. The opening lines, "This is not a test! You are really dying friend," immediately set a tone of urgency and fear. The singer speaks to someone who is in the grip of a panic attack, urging them to keep their hands inside the vehicle, lest they be ripped off. The tone is harsh and unfeeling, as the singer seems to take pleasure in the other's distress, but there is also an undercurrent of desperation and fear.
As the song progresses, the lyrics become more surreal and dreamlike, with references to spaghetti arms for oars and sheets that are "a mess of veins and kelp". The singer taunts the person having the panic attack, calling them a "sad and lonely character" and questioning whether there are any bones in their spine. They also reference the other's life as a kind of reality TV show, suggesting that they exist solely for the singer's entertainment.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of deep isolation and despair, as the person having the panic attack is lost at sea in their own mind. The harshness of the singer's voice is juxtaposed with a sense of vulnerability and fear, as they struggle to come to terms with their own mortality.
