2 Some Might Say
Oasis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Some might say that sunshine follows thunder
Go and tell it to the man who cannot shine
Some might say that we should never ponder
On our thoughts today 'cause they hold sway over time

Some might say
We will find a brighter day
Some might say
We will find a brighter day
(Yeah)

'Cause I've been standin' at the station
In need of education in the rain
You made no preparation
For my reputation once again
The sink is full of fishes
She's got dirty dishes on the brain
It was overflowin' gently
But it's all elementary my friend

Some might say they don't believe in heaven
Go and tell it to the man who lives in hell
Some might say you get what you've been given
If you don't get yours I won't get mine as well

'Cause some might say
We will find a brighter day
Some might say
We will find a brighter day
(Yeah)

'Cause I've been standin' at the station
In need of education in the rain
You made no preparation
For my reputation once again
The sink is full of fishes
'Cause she's got dirty dishes on the brain
And my dog's been itchin'
Itchin' in the kitchen once again

Some might say (some might say)
Some might say (some might say)
You know what some might say (you know what some might say)
You know what some might say (you know what some might say)
You know what some might say (you know what some might say)
You know what some might say (you know what some might say)
You know what some might say (you know what some might say)
You know what some might say (you know what some might say)
You know what some might say (you know what some might say)

You know what some might say (you know what some might say)
(Woo)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Oasis's song "Some Might Say" explore themes of optimism and perseverance. The opening lines suggest that even in the midst of difficult times, there is hope for better things to come. The phrase "sunshine follows thunder" implies that after a period of darkness or struggle, there will eventually be a moment of brightness and clarity. However, the line "Go and tell it to the man who cannot shine" suggests that some people may be unable to see or appreciate this optimism, perhaps due to personal struggles or circumstances beyond their control.

The chorus repeats the idea that there is hope for a brighter future, even if it may not be immediately visible: "We will find a brighter day." This sentiment is underscored by the final verse, which suggests that even in the face of hardship and uncertainty, it is important to keep moving forward and not give up. The final lines of the song, "Some might say...You know what some might say" serve as a kind of mantra, emphasizing the importance of positivity and resilience in the face of adversity.

"Some might say they don't believe in heaven, go and tell to the man who lives in hell" what a focking beautiful line.

@gibranaditama2256

Preach brother

@sebastbeltzab7342

@@gibranaditama2256 I mean, it doesn't need to be related to "preaching", for me (example), it's about the hell poor people have to go through while we complain about the little things in life.

@@sebastbeltzab7342 You misinterpreted the intention of the other guy’s comment. He meant preach as in ‘damn straight’

American here. My mom took a trip to London in 1996, when i was 1. While there she heard Oasis on the radio. She came back to the states and bought definitely maybe and WTSMG. That along with BHN and the masterplan the next few years were 100% the soundtrack to my childhood. Oasis is the only band I can never get enough of and it’s in my blood. Mad fer it. Thank you mom ❤️
