Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993 and released their record-setting debut album Definitely Maybe (1994). The following year they recorded (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) with drummer Alan White, in the midst of a chart rivalry with peers Blur. Spending ten weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was also an international chart success and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. In addition, it stands as the fifth-best-selling album in the UK and the biggest-selling album in the UK of the 1990s. The Gallagher brothers featured regularly in tabloid newspapers for their disputes and wild lifestyles. In 1996, Oasis performed two nights at Knebworth for an audience of 125,000 each time, the largest outdoor concerts in UK history at the time. In 1997, Oasis released their third album, Be Here Now. It became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history.
Oasis' popularity later declined and McGuigan and Arthurs left in 1999 as Oasis released Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000). They were replaced by former Heavy Stereo guitarist Gem Archer and former Ride guitarist Andy Bell. White departed in 2004, replaced by Zak Starkey and later Chris Sharrock. Oasis released three more studio albums, Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008). The group abruptly disbanded after the departure of Noel Gallagher in August 2009.
As of 2009, Oasis had sold over 70 million records worldwide. They are among the most successful acts on the UK Singles Chart and Albums Chart, with eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. The band also achieved three platinum albums in the US. They won 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards, including one in 2007 for Outstanding Contribution to Music and one for the "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. They were nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Won't you take me to the edge of night and make me
Won't you make me walk into the light
And there'll be no eyes
No eyes that see such beauty would lose their sight
And there'll be no lies
No lies that you could tell me to make things right
And the price I'm still paying for the shit that it brings
Doesn't fill me with hope for the songs that you sing
Tonight, this is your life
Angel child
When you find out
When you find out who you are you know you'll be free
To see your own ability
But there'll be no eyes
No eyes that see such beauty could lose their sight
And there'll be no lies
No lies that you could tell me to make things right
Cos I gave all my money to people and things
And the price I'm still paying for the shit that it brings
Doesn't fill me with hope for the songs that you sing
Tonight, this is your life
Angel child
Tonight, this is your life, this is your life
Angel child of mine
Tonight, this is your life, this is your life
Angel child
Tonight, this is your life, this is your life
Angel child of mine
This is your life, this is your life
Angel child
Tonight, this is your life, this is your life
Angel child
The "Angel Child" song by Oasis is a heartfelt plea for someone to take the singer to the edge of night and show them the beauty in the world. The lyrics convey the reverie of being taken to a place where there are no lies and no eyes that can see such beauty could be blinded by it. The singer has given everything they have to people and material things, but it hasn't brought them happiness, and they express their skepticism that the songs that the addressee sings can bring hope. The song suggests that the singer is lost, trying to find meaning and joy in their life. The title "Angel Child" implies innocence and purity, something the singer is seeking in life.
The lyrics have a melancholic tone, emphasised by the slow and steady tempo of the song. The singer's past experiences have taught them a hard lesson that money and material things can't make them happy. The line "the price I'm still paying for the shit that it brings" conveys the singer's regret for making wrong choices in life.
Interestingly, the spelling of "Cos" instead of "Cause" in one line suggests a casual and informal tone, which contrasts with the overall serious and heartfelt message of the song.

Why this was a b side track I’ll never know? It’s the best tune Noel ever sang vocals on with oasis in my eyes. I remember when and where I was the 1st time I heard it! Not a lot of tunes can do that but this is one of them 👌🏻
