Oasis Lyrics

Step off the train all alone at dawn
Back into the hole where I was born
The sun in the sky never raised an eye to me
The blood on the tracks, and they must be mine
The fool on the hill, and I feel fine
Don't look back 'cause you know what you might see

Look into the wall of my mind's eye
I think I know, but I don't know why
The questions are the answers you might need
Coming in a mess, going out in style
I ain't good-looking, but I'm someone's child
No one can give me the air that's mine to breathe

I met my maker
I made him cry
And on my shoulder he asked me why
His people won't fly through the storm
I said, "Hey, listen up man, we don't even know you're born"

All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I don't really care for what you believe
So open up your fist or you won't receive
The thoughts and the words of every man you'll need
Get up off the floor and believe in life
No one's ever gonna ever ask you twice
Get on the bus and bring it on home to me

I met my maker
I made him cry
And on my shoulder he asked me why
His people won't fly through the storm
I said, "Listen up man, they don't even know you're born"

All my people right here, right now
They know what I mean yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
They know what I mean yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
They know what I mean yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah

All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah

Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah

Overall Meaning

The song "D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman" by Oasis is a mix of nostalgia and present realization. The opening lines "I haven't seen your face round since I was a kid" immediately sets the tone of the song about two old friends reminiscing about their childhood memories. The song talks about how the town they grew up in, which was once full of their dreams and aspirations, has turned into a reality where survival is a must. The line "The town where we're living, has made you a man, and all of your dreams are washed in the sand" is an example of the harsh reality of life. The two friends remember the days when climbing trees and pretending to fly was their idea of adventure. They talk about wanting to be spacemen and live in the sky - a symbol of their dreams that seem so far away.

As the song progresses, we see that growing up has not been kind to our narrator and his friend. They now have bills to pay, and their priorities have changed. The line "you don't want to be no spaceman, you just want gold" is a reflection of how their dreams have changed with time. However, the song ends on a positive note, leaving the listener with the message that it's never too late to dream. It finishes with the lines "But if you want to be a spaceman, it's still not too late. Well, it's alright. It's alright. Who are you and me to say what's wrong and what's right."

Overall, "D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman" is a beautiful reminder of our childhood dreams and how life can sometimes take us in a different direction. The song talks about the beauty of those childhood memories and how they define us as individuals. It leaves us with a feeling of hope that it's never too late to pursue our dreams, no matter how far-fetched they may seem.

I haven't seen your face round
It's been a while since we last saw each other

Since I was Kid
Since we were young

Your bringing back those memories
You're reminding me of our past experiences

Of the thing that we did
Of the fun we had

You're hanging round and climbing trees
You're still acting like a kid

Pretending to fly
Imagining you can fly like a spaceman

D'yer want to be a spaceman and live in the sky
Do you still dream of being a spaceman and escaping this town?

You got how many bills to pay
You have responsibilities now

And how many kids
You have a family to support

And you forgot
You've lost touch with

About the things that we did
The fun things we did as kids

The town where we're living
This town has changed you

Has made you a man
You've become an adult

And all of your dreams
Your aspirations

Are washed in the sand
Have been forgotten

Well it's alright
It's okay

It's alright
Don't worry

Who are you and me to say
We're not in a position to judge

What's wrong and what's right
What's good or bad

Do you still feel like me
Do you still have the same dreams as me?

We sit down here
Let's talk

And we shall see
Let's find out

We can talk
We can have a conversation

And find common ground
Find something we can agree on

And we can just forget
Let's not dwell on

About feeling down
Depressing thoughts

About life in this town.
Our unfulfilled lives here

It's funny how your dreams
It's interesting how our goals

Change as you're growing old
Change as we age

You don't want to be no spaceman
You have different priorities now

You just want gold
You want money and success

All the dream stealers
Those who discourage us

Are lying in wait
Are waiting for us to fail

But if you want to be a spaceman
But if you still have that dream

It's still not too late
It's not too late to pursue it

Now this is what you call a remaster. The song sounds superb, and the video looks insanely crisp and clear, you'd think they filmed this yesterday!

DurkDiggler

They didn't re-do. It's just a re-scan of the original film rushes. Except on a 4K spirit scanner mastered at 2K. The original master was PAL so 720x576. Rather than this version mastered at 2048x1152 then to HD.

I'm still blown away by how two brothers with such anger issues can write such beautiful melodies.
