Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993 and released their record-setting debut album Definitely Maybe (1994). The following year they recorded (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) with drummer Alan White, in the midst of a chart rivalry with peers Blur. Spending ten weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was also an international chart success and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. In addition, it stands as the fifth-best-selling album in the UK and the biggest-selling album in the UK of the 1990s. The Gallagher brothers featured regularly in tabloid newspapers for their disputes and wild lifestyles. In 1996, Oasis performed two nights at Knebworth for an audience of 125,000 each time, the largest outdoor concerts in UK history at the time. In 1997, Oasis released their third album, Be Here Now. It became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history.
Oasis' popularity later declined and McGuigan and Arthurs left in 1999 as Oasis released Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000). They were replaced by former Heavy Stereo guitarist Gem Archer and former Ride guitarist Andy Bell. White departed in 2004, replaced by Zak Starkey and later Chris Sharrock. Oasis released three more studio albums, Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008). The group abruptly disbanded after the departure of Noel Gallagher in August 2009.
As of 2009, Oasis had sold over 70 million records worldwide. They are among the most successful acts on the UK Singles Chart and Albums Chart, with eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. The band also achieved three platinum albums in the US. They won 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards, including one in 2007 for Outstanding Contribution to Music and one for the "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. They were nominated for two Grammy Awards.

I can't swim but my soul won't drown
I do believe I got flare
I got speed and I walk on air
'Cause God gimme soul in your rock'n'roll, babe
'Cause God gimme soul in your rock'n'roll, babe
And I get so high I just can't feel it
In and out my brain
You're runnin' through my vein
You're my sunshine
You're my rain
There's a light that shines on
Shines on me and it keeps me warm
It gimme peace, I must say
I can't sleep 'cause the world won't wait
'Cause God gimme soul in your rock'n'roll, babe
'Cause God gimme soul in your rock'n'roll, babe
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
In and out my brain
You're runnin' through my vein
You're my sunshine
You're my rain
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
And I get so high I just can't feel it
In and out my brain
You're runnin' through my vein
You're my sunshine
You're my rain
"Hindu Times" by Oasis is a song that talks about the power and influence of music with a reference to spirituality. It starts with the singer feeling low and down, but then his soul doesn't drown. He believes that he has a unique personality and walks on air with his talents. The chorus is a declaration of how music is also influencing him, and he believes that rock and roll is his path to God. With rock and roll, he gets so high that he can't feel it, and it takes over his brain.
Throughout the song, we see that the singer believes that music is a guiding light for him. The light has transformative power and makes him feel warm, and it provides him with peace. He finds it challenging to sleep as he is eager to make his music heard, and he feels that the world won't wait. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the central theme; rock and roll music is his path to God and gives him joy and purpose.

Their most underrated single. Absolute masterpiece this.
@happybee7725
For certain.
@mod4it87
Yeah it got number one and then never got played
@Theo-fu8mv
You should listen to the demo version of this, it’s just sublime
@Bob-hq5lj
No argument here, both that and Shock of the Lightning. Most everything else on those last 4 albums just too slow and too boring
@Bob-hq5lj
@Theo I just did...amazing. Better lyrics, better playing, more fun. Absolute proof Noel over produced the last 4 albums to death. The only overproduced album of theirs worth a damn is Be Here Now, which I personally love
@paulgreenway8766
'In and outta my brain, running through my vein, You're my sunshine, you're my rain' :) says it all lol

He is talking about the Beatles. At least that’s what I relate it to, for me.
