I
Oasis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So let's hear it
For the quiet ones
Let's all hear it
Be as bright as sun

When it's dark and you're overcome
Listen now
Let's all hear it
For the quiet one

So let's hear it
For the quiet ones
Can't get near it
Till we're bright as sun
When it's dark and we're overcome
Listen now

Let's all hear it
For the quiet ones

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song '1' by Oasis seems to talk about the importance of the quiet people or the introverts. The opening line talks about giving attention to the quiet ones and being as bright as the sun. This could suggest that even though the quiet ones are not very vocal, it does not make them any less important. The line 'when it's dark and you're overcome' could be interpreted as a reference to tough situations or struggles that people go through. The chorus comes in again saying 'let's all hear it for the quiet ones' reinforcing that the quiet ones also deserve recognition and appreciation for their unique qualities.

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how

'Cause maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead you there are winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

Nostalgia is possibly one of the best and worst feelings ever

Agreed

@@patrickbateman7802 you grow up and lose your youth, friends die, you get hurt and struggle to be an adult in a myriad of scenarios life throws...then you remember some time you heard this, when you were a teen and all the things you've been through were still ahead of you...in other words, life hits you

Jeez this describes how this song feels to me so frickin well

Patrick Bateman nothing major, just the overwhelming feeling that I can never relive moments. Every time I hear this song it’s like a time machine to many years back to when I’d listen to this every day. Times with no pandemic, or stress, times from long ago that remind me just how precious life really is. You really never realize how fast it passes except in hindsight. Once it’s gone, there’s no getting it back so cherish every moment :)
