I Will Believe
Oasis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm locked up in chains
For the rest of my life
There's no one else to blame but me

The start of the day's
Just the end of the night
I'm feeling like I'm lost at sea
Sometimes is just seems so simple
I'm feeling like I'm down on my knees
Sometimes like a man in the middle
I don't know my own mind
Won't you let me be

Coz I can find you
Living in my world
Dragging me round
Just like a dog on a lead
But when I find my
Own peace of mind I
I will believe

I'm locked up in chains
For the rest of my life
There's no one else to blame but me

Coz I can find you
Living in my world
Dragging me round
Just like a dog on a lead
But when I find
My own peace of mind I

I will believe
I will believe

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Oasis's song I Will Believe tell a story of a person who is facing the consequences of his own decisions. The first and second line of the song, "I'm locked up in chains for the rest of my life, there's no one else to blame but me," shows that the person regrets his past actions, and now he has to face the repercussions. He realizes that he is solely responsible for the situation he is in and nobody else. The line "I'm feeling like I'm lost at sea" describes the state of confusion that the person is going through. He doesn't know what to do or how to get out of the situation he has landed himself in.

The chorus of the song, "Coz I can find you living in my world, dragging me around just like a dog on a lead, but when I find my own peace of mind, I will believe," explains how the person feels burdened by someone who is controlling his life. He feels like a dog on a leash, with no freedom or power over his own life. However, he is hopeful that once he finds his own peace of mind, he will believe in himself and his abilities to change his life.

The last verse repeats the first one, emphasizing the idea that the person is trapped in his own mistakes, but he still has hope for a better future. The song's lyrics communicate that life is full of struggles and mistakes, but it's important to take responsibility for our actions and strive for a better future.

Reduced Effort

The best thing is finding an old Oasis single in record shop and skipping the A-side to hear the B-sides you never knew existed.

strange exchange indeed my friend!! Oasis’ B sides were more often than not better than their A songs. Still my favorite band to this day even though they broke up more than 10 years ago 😢

This is for the diehard fans this one!

DJ Yentonian

@Alan Mcclemont Stevie Wonder and the other writers of 'Uptight' wanted 6% of all sales revenue earned from Morning Glory for Step Out's inclusion. Because it ended up being a B-Side instead, they didn't earn a penny from it.

Rory Ross

Yup

Mr. Sifter

you got it man! For the diehards, not for the tryhards.
