Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993 and released their record-setting debut album Definitely Maybe (1994). The following year they recorded (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) with drummer Alan White, in the midst of a chart rivalry with peers Blur. Spending ten weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was also an international chart success and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. In addition, it stands as the fifth-best-selling album in the UK and the biggest-selling album in the UK of the 1990s. The Gallagher brothers featured regularly in tabloid newspapers for their disputes and wild lifestyles. In 1996, Oasis performed two nights at Knebworth for an audience of 125,000 each time, the largest outdoor concerts in UK history at the time. In 1997, Oasis released their third album, Be Here Now. It became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history.
Oasis' popularity later declined and McGuigan and Arthurs left in 1999 as Oasis released Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000). They were replaced by former Heavy Stereo guitarist Gem Archer and former Ride guitarist Andy Bell. White departed in 2004, replaced by Zak Starkey and later Chris Sharrock. Oasis released three more studio albums, Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008). The group abruptly disbanded after the departure of Noel Gallagher in August 2009.
As of 2009, Oasis had sold over 70 million records worldwide. They are among the most successful acts on the UK Singles Chart and Albums Chart, with eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. The band also achieved three platinum albums in the US. They won 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards, including one in 2007 for Outstanding Contribution to Music and one for the "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. They were nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Shout it from the rooftops of your head
Make it sort of mean something
Make me understand or I'll forget
The people here on life's beaches
Wish upon the waves that hide the sand
Let them know that life teaches
You to build a castle in your hand
Maybe the songs that we sing are wrong
Maybe the dreams that we dream are gone
Bring it on home and it won't be long
It's gettin' better, man
Hey, what was that you said to me?
Just say the word and I'd be free
And when the stars are shinin' bright
We're gettin' better, man
And crashin' in upon a wave
It's callin' out beyond the grave
And on the fire in the sky
We're gettin' better, man
Build something
Build a better place and call it home
Even if it means nothing
You'll never ever feel that you're alone
'Cause maybe the songs that we sing are wrong
Maybe the dreams that we dream are gone
Bring it on home and it won't be long
It's gettin' better, man
Hey, what was that you said to me?
Just say the word and I'd be free
Yeah, that's the fire in the sky
It's gettin' better, man
And crashin' in upon a wave
It's callin' out beyond the grave
And when the stars are shinin' bright
It's gettin' better, man
It's gettin' better, man
And what was that you said to me?
You told me one day I'd be free
And when the fire's burning bright
I'm gettin' better, man
And crashin' in upon a wave
It's callin' out beyond the grave
And when the stars are in the sky (yeah)
We're gettin' better, man
(Yeah) We're gettin' better, man
(Yeah) We're gettin' better, man
(Hey) We're gettin' better, man
(Hey) We're gettin' better, man
(Hey) We're gettin' better, man

(Hey) We're gettin' better, man (Woo!)
(Hey) We're gettin' better, man
(Yeah) We're gettin' better, man
(Yeah) We're gettin' better, man
(Yeah) We're gettin' better, man
(Yeah) We're gettin' better, man

The song "It's Better People" by Oasis is a call for unity and love among people. The lyrics emphasize the struggles of living life and how it can be tough to get through it alone. The first two lines of the chorus, "It's better people, love one another, 'Cause livin' your life can be tough," highlight the importance of coming together and supporting one another during difficult times. The phrase "Your shame is not enough" suggests that isolating oneself and hiding their true emotions is not enough to overcome their struggles.
The song also encourages people to break out of their comfort zones and experience life to the fullest. The lines "And you thought we might be, But what you heard before, Was only sleepin' in your brain" suggest that the listener may have had preconceived notions about the possibilities in life which they are yet to discover. The lyrics "So come outside and feel the light, It's cold inside and it's lonely in your bed, in your bed" further emphasize the importance of taking action and not remaining in a state of inaction.
Overall, "It's Better People" is a message of hope, encouraging people to love and support one another and to pursue life with an open mind and heart.
Line by Line Meaning
It's better people, love one another
We should all show love and compassion towards one another
'Cause livin' your life can be tough
Life can be challenging at times
It's better people, speak to each other
We should communicate with each other
Your shame is not enough
Feeling ashamed is not an excuse for not communicating
If everybody came alive
If everyone becomes fully engaged with life
And stayed alive
And stays that way
And lived their lives instead, yeah
And lives their lives to the fullest
So come outside
Leave your comfort zone
And feel the light
Experience life fully
It's cold inside
Staying inside your comfort zone can be lonely
But it's lonely in your bed, in your bed
Staying in your own thoughts can be lonely
And you though we might be
And despite what you might have assumed
But what you heard before
What you thought you knew before
Is sleepin' in your brain
Is merely a memory
But if you came with me
But if you joined me
The days'd never end
Life would be more fulfilled
Would never be the same
Life would change for the better
This is goin by a different name
A new chapter in life is beginning
They'd never be the same
Life would forever be changed

You gotta roll with it
You gotta take your time
You gotta say what you say
Don't let anybody get in your way
'Cause it's all too much for me to take
Don't ever stand aside
Don't ever be denied
You wanna be who you'd be
If you're coming with me
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I'm gonna take me away and hide
I'm thinking of things that I just can't abide
I know the roads down which your life will drive
I find the key that lets you slip inside
Kiss the girl, she's not behind the door
But you know I think I recognize your face
But I've never seen you before
You gotta roll with it
You gotta take your time
You gotta say what you say
Don't let any fucker get in your way
'Cause it's all too much for me to take
I know the roads down which your life will drive
I find the key that lets you slip inside
Kiss the girl, she's not behind the door
But you know I think I recognize your face
But I've never seen you before
You gotta roll with it
You gotta take your time
You gotta say what you say
Don't let anybody get in your way
'Cause it's all too much for me to take
Don't ever stand aside
Don't ever be denied
You wanna be who you'd be
If you're coming with me
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside
