Rockin' Chair
Oasis Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This town holds no more for me
All my life I try to find another way
I don't care for your attitude
You bring me down I think you're rude
All my life I try to make a better day
It's hard enough being alone (being alone)Sitting here by the phone (by the phone)
Waiting for my memories
To come and play
It's hard enough sitting there (sitting there)
Rockin' in your rockin' chair (rockin' chair)
It's all too much for me to take
When you're not there
It's hard enough being alone (being alone)
Sitting here by the phone (by the phone)
Waiting for my memories
To come and play
It's hard enough sitting there (sitting there)
Rockin' in your rockin' chair (rockin' chair)
It's all too much for me to take
When you're not there
I'm older than I wish to be
This town holds no more for me
All my life I try to find another way
I don't care for your attitude
You bring me down, I think you're rude
All my life I try to make a better day
It's hard enough being alone (being alone)
Sitting here by the phone (by the phone)
Waiting for my memories
To come and play
It's hard enough sitting there (sitting there)
Rockin' in your rockin' chair (rockin' chair)
It's all too much for me to take
When you're not there
The lyrics of Oasis's song Rockin' Chair express a sense of disappointment and loneliness with one's present situation in life. The singer suggests that he is older than he would like to be and feels that the town he is in no longer holds anything for him. He has spent his whole life trying to find another way, to make a better day, but seems to have come up short. The singer addresses someone else in the song, perhaps a friend or lover, who he doesn't care for because of their negative attitude that always brings him down.
The chorus repeats the feeling of being alone, waiting for memories to come and play, and struggling to sit and rock in a rocking chair without someone there. The repetition of these phrases emphasizes the singer's isolation and loneliness. The final verse repeats the opening verse, further emphasizing the sense of being stuck in a life that is not fulfilling.
One interesting interpretation of the lyrics is that they reflect the band's own struggles with fame and the music industry. After the enormous success of their first two albums, Oasis struggled to maintain their momentum and were criticized for their attitude and behavior. The song could be seen as a commentary on the stress and isolation that comes with fame and the difficulty of staying true to oneself in the face of commercial pressures.
Other possible interpretations of the song include a commentary on aging and nostalgia, a critique of small-town life, or a personal reflection on lost love. Whatever the meaning, the lyrics are poignant, expressing a deep sense of sadness and longing that many listeners can relate to.

Some of their B sides are actually impeccable… I’d place this above wonderwall any day.

The Masterplan album is a great example of Oasis B-Sides that so many people sadly overlooked when they bought the singles, the weakest track on there
in my own opinionis I Am The Walrus and that's a Beatles cover! I honestly think that Oasis would have liked to have released Non-Album Singles in much the same way as The Beatles did in the 1960s? Oasis singles would appear on the albums - Whatever being an exception- and that was great for people who didn't buy singles back in the 1990s, so for those of us that did, the B-Sides weren't just fillers, demos or remixes, the songs were actually as good and often better than the A-Side? Other record labels would probably have held back some of the Oasis B-Sides for release when the band were on a break or taking time out for other projects, but Alan McGee/Creation didn't, as a music fan he had empathy for record buyers and fans, where other labels would have easily exploited the record buying public!@carlosaugustopeixoto1073
Na minha opinião essa canção é superior a Wonderwall.

Liam at the peak of his powers as a singer and Noel at the peak of his songwriting ability. The best song humanity has produced

Noel didn’t write this
@judegriffiths544
It was written by Tony and Chris Griffiths from the real people
@iMertin
@@judegriffiths544Chris wrote a bit with him in a recording session and bits to another song. That’s all he is credit but so is Noel who wrote it mostly
