Don't Go Away
Oasis Oasis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A cold and frosty morning there's not a lot to say
About the things caught in my mind
And as the day was dawning my plane flew away
With all the things caught in my mind
And I want to be there when you're
Coming down
And I want to be there when you hit the ground
So don't go away, say what you say
Say that you'll stay
Forever and a day in the time of my life
'Cause I need more time, yes, I need more time
Just to make things right

Damn my situation and the games I have to play
With all the things caught in my mind
Damn my education I can't find the words to say
With all the things caught in my mind
And I want to be there when you're
Coming down
And I want to be there when you hit the ground

So don't go away, say what you say
Say that you'll stay
Forever and a day in the time of my life
'Cause I need more time, yes, I need more time
Just to make things right

Me and you, what's going on?
All we seem to know is how to show
The feelings that are wrong

So don't go away, say what you say
Say that you'll stay
Forever and a day in the time of my life
'Cause I need more time, yes, I need more time
Just to make things right

And don't go away, say what you say
Say that you'll stay
Forever and a day in the time of my life
'Cause I need more time, yes, I need more time
Just to make things right
Yes, I need more time
Just to make things right
Yes, I need more time

Just to make things right
So don't go away

Overall Meaning

In Oasis's "Don't Go Away," the singer is dealing with a cold and frosty morning, and he can't seem to escape the thoughts that are swirling in his mind. As the day begins, he watches his plane fly away, leaving him stranded in his own head. The only thing he wants is to be with the person he loves when she comes crashing down from her own troubles. He begs her not to go away and to say that she'll stay with him forever, as he needs more time to make things right.

Throughout the song, the singer blames his situation and the games he has to play, as well as his education, for his inability to express his love and make things right with his partner. He is frustrated with himself for not knowing how to express his feelings and for only being able to show the wrong emotions. Despite all of this, the singer knows he needs more time to fix things and begs his partner not to leave him.

The song is a poignant commentary on the struggle to express one's emotions and connect with a loved one. It highlights the importance of communication and the desire for more time with the ones we love.

@brujah723

I am an American, and I think that Oasis is the best band out their, and is still after 13 years of listening to them, my favorite band of all time. Here in the states I believe they are unappreciated and hope that when they do get their stuff together with Noel leaving that they will play more gigs in the US, which is hopefully close to where I live. Long live Oasis.

@Couly

Liam said that the only time he cried was when he read the lyrics to this song because it's noel's letter to Liam.

@KrnL85
