1) Oceano is an American deathcore band from Chicago, IL, formed in 2006. The band signed to Earache Records and released their debut album, Depths on April 7, 2009. Their second album, Contagion was released on November 9, 2010.
In 2012, a rumor passed that Oceano would be breaking up, but it was confirmed that the band is staying together and will be releasing a third full-length album in 2013.
Upon its formation in 2006, the band then featured 6 members and performed at local venues in the Chicago area. Their most prominent song then was "Candyman".
Carrol gathered Chicago guitarist Andrew Mikhail, vocalist Adam Warren, drummer Michael Southcomb and bassist Kevin Hare to form Oceano's first full line-up in 2007. After a year, Southcomb and Hare parted ways with the band. They were soon replaced by drummer Daniel Terchin and bassist Jason Jones. Oceano signed to Earache Records in 2008 after gaining a notable local following. Oceano recorded their full debut album Depths in late 2008, releasing it worldwide on April 20, 2009.
Jeremy Carrol was fired from the band in January 2009 due to personality conflicts between members. On February 3, 2010 their lead guitarist, Andrew Mikhail, departed from the band.
Oceano was a part of the 2011 Summer Slaughter Tour in North America alongside co-headliners Whitechapel and The Black Dahlia Murder.
In January of 2012, a rumor spread that the band was disestablishing, which was confirmed as false by Earache. Instead, an announcement was made that the band is actually going on a short hiatus after their performance at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival due to vocalist, Adam Warren, becoming a father. After some time spent away from the band, however, Oceano decided not to disband, and to continue touring. They also revealed that they had begun writing their next album, due by early 2013.

Oceano Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This world abandoned left desolate,
Depleted of all its resources.
There's no recovery from this.
Yet there are survivors scarce
Who hide amongst the ruins where
A crucial decision must be made;
The sky won't expose any answers,
So stop searching there.
You cannot escape reality's trials
With a simple prayer.
For such a complicated sin fear not of punishment.
Find enjoyment in their pain and incisions made.
You're not a heathen for thinking this if God can allow these situations.
With no response or a single sign sent from the heavens,
Is God deaf, or maybe dead?
Is God deaf? God is not deaf, just non-existent.
Allow your last ounce of faith to diminish.
Let the hunger consume your thoughts.
For all the years spent on your knees
Finally stand to think without looking above.
Finally you stand to think without looking above.
Desperate times call for desperate actions.
So murder, consume, and repeat for survival in a devastated world of exile.
This is a mandatory sacrifice
The lyrics of Oceano's song A Mandatory Sacrifice paint a dark and grim picture of a world that has been abandoned and left desolate, depleted of all its resources. The opening line, "Your kind has been aborted," sets the tone for the rest of the song, suggesting a bleak future for humanity. The song continues by describing the few survivors who are left in this devastated world, faced with a crucial decision of whether to die of starvation or resort to cannibalism for survival.
The lyrics are a commentary on the state of the world, suggesting that we have reached a point of no return, where the consequences of our actions have led to the collapse of society. The line, "The sky won't expose any answers, so stop searching there," suggests a sense of hopelessness and a lack of faith in a higher power to intervene.
The chorus, "For all the years spent on your knees, finally stand to think without looking above," encourages the listener to take responsibility for their own actions and to face the reality of their situation. The final line, "This is a mandatory sacrifice," suggests that there is no easy way out of this dire situation and that people must make difficult choices if they hope to survive.
Overall, Oceano's A Mandatory Sacrifice is a powerful and thought-provoking commentary on the state of the world and the consequences of our actions.

MAN, that lead singer is owning the stage. Right after 'simple prayer' when the camera shows him with one foot on the riser... that is the definition of pure intimidation.
