Their self titled debut record, was produced by RED songwriter/guitarist Jasen Rauch and was mixed by Brian Virtue (Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, My chemical Romance, Cavo). The album is a refreshing blast of melodic hard/alternative rock, drawing deep from the band’s personal experiences. With the song, “See what I see,” lifting off from an infectious guitar riff into a blistering song with emotional lyrics in which lead vocalist/frontman Chris McCoy belts, “watch the world with bloodshot eyes/ maybe than Ill see what you see/a cold embrace that sucks you dry/ leaving you so sick and empty”. Just one listen is all it takes to realize that this band is the real deal. “Lyrically I came at this with my uncle in mind” States McCoy. “He passed away several years ago. The family watched him slowly kill himself through alcohol and It was a hard truth to deal with because he didn’t want to be helped.”
Oceans Divide was founded by lead vocalist/frontman Chris McCoy and guitarist Eric Varnell in Spokane, Wa. The duo solidified the line up with the addition of drummer Silas McQuain, and twin brothers Dan and John Goodman(Bass and Guitar respectiveley.)
“Although we’re a young band, we’ve all known each other for years” says McCoy. “The chemistry is great and we have the same goals musically. This band just feels right.”
Take the aggressive riffs of active rock, add it to the story telling of a modern day poet and the hooks and melody of what makes a song so infectious it stays stuck in your head for days and you begin to understand Oceans Divide.

Tempted by the cruel I know
Tested by a diction
Never thought I be its victim
I can feel it deep within
Calling out to me agian
Just see the simpton
Every breath is mine too take
I want sleep away
After hall I've seen
Is so much more to believe
If I'm gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
Theres no place to hide
I'm feelin' second side
If im gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
Gotta miss so many science
Wasted use and pull my life
Did it by desicion
Councour by my superstitions
Conse struggles day the day
So we something in the way
... get by my demons
Never would the voice of reason
Every breath is mine too take
I won't sleep away
After hall I've seen
Is so much more to believe
If I'm gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
Theres no place to hide
I feelin' second side
If im gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
I'll make it barely alive
After hall I've seen
Is so much more to believe
If I'm gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
Theres no place to hide
I feelin' second side
If im gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
I'll make it barely alive
The lyrics of Oceans Divide's song "Barely Alive" talk about a struggle with addiction and the desire to keep control, even when tempted by cruel forces. The singer reveals that they never thought they would be a victim to their addiction, but can feel it calling to them again. The addiction causes the singer to struggle day by day, with their superstitions and demons, but they refuse to let it take control of their life completely. They acknowledge that they may not be able to avoid feeling the effects of their addiction, but they will do everything in their power to stay alive, even if it means just barely surviving.
The lyrics show the inner turmoil and emotional pain that many people experience when struggling with addiction. The singer's battle against their addiction is a common theme in many songs, but the honesty and vulnerability with which Oceans Divide approach the topic makes "Barely Alive" stand out.
Overall, the lyrics of "Barely Alive" convey the message that addiction is an ongoing battle that people may never fully defeat, but it is possible to continue living and fighting against it.

Barely Alive
Never want to lose control
Tempted by the cruel unknown
Tested by addiction
Never thought i'd be its victim
I can feel it deep within
Calling out to me again
Should of seen the symptoms
Forced to face this cold affliction
Every breath is mine to take
I won't slip away
After all I've seen
There's so much more to believe
If I'm gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
There's no place to hide
I'm feeling sick inside
If I'm gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
God I miss so many signs
Wasted years upon my life
Hindered by decisions
Conquered by my superstitions
Constant struggles day to day
There's always something in the way
Reminded by my demons
Never were the voice of reason
Every breath is mine to take
I won't slip away
After all I've seen
There's so much more to believe
If I'm gonna survive
I'll make it barely alive
There's no place to hide
I'm feeling sick inside
If I'm gonna survive

I'll make it barely alive
