Octave’s music takes particular influence from musicians like Otis Redding, The Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye, Neil Young, Burt Bacharach and Paul Simon. But his musical attractions range widely and are diverse, including the more contemporary—Radiohead and Kings of Leon— It’s not surprising that he draws on such a wide range of artistry; he started learning the violin at age six and the guitar at eight; and at eleven he discovered he could sing. Forming a band in which he co-wrote songs with his friends, none of the precocious and embarrassed boys were comfortable putting themselves forward as lead singer. Taking turns at the microphone to see who could sing best, Octave found he had a voice.
Since then it has continued to serve him well, and Octave has composed and performed music in a number of bands, and as a solo artist in venues across London and Paris. In October 2014 he opened for Mr Big at the legendary venue Koko in Camden, London, and in Paris he has played solo concerts at Bus Palladium, Le China Club, La Favela Chic, Le Perchoir and Pile ou Face, to name but a few. Earlier this year at Le Baiser Salé, one of Paris’ most celebrated jazz clubs, he gave weekly performances in a one-month residency for a tribute to jazz guitarist John Scofield.
In April 2016 Octave won a prize for best composition in ‘The Best Musical Mind’: an international competition held in Belgrade. This allowed him to attend a Summer program offered by the Berklee School of Music in Perugia, Italy. A restless composer, Octave has written music for web series (www.mylifeinsourdough.com) and film soundtracks; his song 'Little Mary' featured in Valley of Love (starring Gerard Depardieu and Isabelle Huppert, directed by Guillaume Nicloux), part of the official selection during the 2015 Cannes film festival. He currently lives between Paris and London, where he spends his time composing and drinking chocolate milk.
Out Of Love
Octave Lissner Lyrics

In the garden of our time
Underneath our sunken world
When I look into your eyes
Moulding shapeless feelings from another life
I'll fall out of love and find my way to you
Play together in my mind
At the dawn of airless flight
What in heaven will we find?
In the symmetry of awe hidden treasures lie
I told you before I know that for sure
And I won't have to make a sound
To fall out of love and find my way to you
Stare into the morning sun
Forgetting all you left behind
Wait until the day is done
In the country of the blind
Moulding shapeless feelings
In another life I saw you before
I know that for sure and I won't have to make a sound
To fall out of love and find my way to you
In Octave Lissner's song "Out of Love," the lyrics are poetic and open to interpretation, but they convey a sense of longing and nostalgia. The first verse describes a moment of introspection during a sunset, in a garden that seems to represent the past. The singer is looking at someone they once loved, and they feel a sense of distance, as if they are in a "sunken world." However, the singer also seems to be re-evaluating their emotions, and they express their determination to "fall out of love" and find a way to reconnect with this person.
The second verse is more dreamlike, with the singer imagining a new reality where they and this person are together. There is a sense of uncertainty and wonder, as the singer talks about "the symmetry of awe" and "hidden treasures." The chorus repeats the idea of "moulding shapeless feelings" and finding a way to reconnect with this person, even without words.
The final verse adds a touch of melancholy, as the singer urges the other person to leave their troubles behind and join them in a new reality. The line "In the country of the blind" suggests that the world can be a difficult and confusing place, but there is still a chance for them to find happiness together. Overall, the lyrics are romantic and philosophical, exploring themes of time, memory, and the power of the imagination.
