"We are just a band that writes music which people happen to like", says guitarist Scott Zschomler. Odd Project originally formed in 2000 and has recorded a few demos which caught the eye of many in the record industry resulting in a multi-album deal with Indianola Records. With their new chance to shine, Odd Project jumped into Zing Studio's (Killswitch Engage, From Autumn to Ashes, The Agony Scene) and recorded "The Second Hand Stopped" in just less than 2 weeks. With their new release now out, they toured for over a month and a half and managed to win a spot on the main stage at Hellfest 2004.
The buzz has been selling albums out all over the United States; Odd Project has now made a name for themselves in the music industry. It is no wonder they were voted the "#1 Metal Band" on MP3.com, not by the fans, but by MP3.com themselves. The power of their live performance, the showmanship, and their clear musical talent are some of the reasons Odd Project is able to SELLOUT clubs such as CHAIN REACTION (Anaheim, CA), one of the most competitive and "Industry Exposed" venues in Orange County, and THE GLASSHOUSE (Pomona, CA). Playing with National acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Killswitch Engage, and Norma Jean, and being in recent magazines such as Alternative Press, Metal Hammer, Revolver, and Amp has given Odd Project the utmost exposure and drive to become the next most talked about band in 2005.
After personal differences with the rest of the band, vocalist Matt Lamb left the band in 2006. His last show with the band was at Chain Reaction on May 25th, 2006. Matt hasn't announced any other plans yet and Odd Project has found a new vocalist, Michael "Jag" Jagmin, and are now in the process of recording their new album "Lovers Fighters Sinners Saints".
After the release of "Lovers Fighters Sinners Saints", Scott Zchlomer and Christian Escobar left the band, leaving no original members of Odd Project remaining. As of now, Odd Project has decided not to change their name, and have chosen to not play any songs before Lovers Fighters Sinners Saints with respect to the original line-up.
Odd Project officially called it quits in late '07, where current vocalist "Jag" moved on to sing for A Skylit Drive. Drummer Christian Escobar currently manages what remains of the band's existence.

A classic primetime tragedy. so skin graphed, a romantically hopeless warpath.
Statistically the cameras. and lovers like us die in car wrecks. mathematically incorrect,
You fuckers ain't seen nothing yet. //and baby tonight we'll be the robots in the spotlight//
We lost ourselves in these bright lights and cigarettes. we became our charade.
A classic primetime tragedy. so skin graphed baby, a romantically hopeless warpath.
Statistically the camera's set. and lovers like us die in car wrecks. a lack of evidence kept our names off the credits. panegyrized masterminds, we directed this warped pantomime.
And everything was just right, from your makeup to the lights. park the car baby quiet on the set. trigger fingers entwined... I knew this was our time. //this was our time, the poison burns my insides but ask me if I mind. and baby tonight, we'll be the robots in the spotlight. and we'll break free of the programming. and the whole world will know of our love.
The lyrics to Odd Project's song Statistics Like Cigarettes depict the tale of two individuals who have lost themselves in the false glamour of fame and success. The opening lines, "We lost ourselves in these bright lights and cigarettes. We became our charade," suggest that the singers have adopted a fake persona in order to fit in with the entertainment industry. Their lives have become a tragic spectacle, like a "classic primetime tragedy," one that is marked by a "romantically hopeless warpath."
The next lines, "Statistically the cameras. And lovers like us die in car wrecks. Mathematically incorrect, you fuckers ain't seen nothing yet," refer to the high-risk nature of the entertainment industry, where performers are often subject to the intense scrutiny of the media and subject to premature death due to their lifestyle. The singers' defiant attitude to this risk is evident when they declare that they will "be the robots in the spotlight" and "break free of the programming." They seek to challenge the norms of the industry and reveal their true selves to the world.
The chorus line, "We lost ourselves in these bright lights and cigarettes. We became our charade. A classic primetime tragedy. So skin graphed, baby, a romantically hopeless warpath," repeats to emphasize the tragic nature of their story. The final lines, "And everything was just right, from your makeup to the lights. Park the car, baby, quiet on the set. Trigger fingers entwined... I knew this was our time," depicts the moment when the singers realize that they have found their true destiny in the entertainment industry.
