In 2007 the former members, minus Steven Drake and adding Murray Atkinson (guitar) reformed under the name "The New Odds", whose MySpace page claimed the new group sounds "a little bit like Odds only not quite." The album Cheerleader was issued by the band under this name. By 2009 the band moved back to their original moniker "Odds"

We'll Talk
Odds Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Like a ladybug, sidetracked from it's fated trip
We never got to the touching feeling
'Cause the skin's too sensitive when the wounds are healing
Like ice cream too close to the playground
I'm no good for you, but you still want me around
If you pick the moments when the cheeks were glowing
[Chorus]
And we'll talk, and we'll talk, and we'll talk, till we understand enough
And we'll talk, and we'll talk, and we'll talk, till every word's used up
And we'll talk, and we'll talk, and we'll talk, like this was the toughest love
And then we'll fall asleep
Your pain begins at the point of trust
Like life begins at the very flashpoint of lust
There's sun and moon in every movement
You can live with it or expect improvement
[Chorus]
And into our dreams
Where we won't have to figure out
What anything means
And in there we can do whatever I choose
But I'm faithful when there's no way I can lose
[Chorus]
In Odds's song We'll Talk, the singer describes a relationship that is both complicated and unhealthy. The opening line "Your tear walked down from my fingertip" sets the tone for the song, as the imagery of a tear resembling a ladybug "sidetracked from its fated trip" creates a sense of unease and uncertainty. The line suggests that the relationship between the two people is similarly sidetracked, off-kilter and not quite as it should be.
The lyrics go on to explore the idea that the two people in the relationship cannot quite connect with each other, as their "skin's too sensitive when the wounds are healing." This could suggest that the two individuals have been hurt in the past and are struggling to open up to each other as a result. The lines "I'm no good for you, but you still want me around" reinforce this idea of a relationship that is ultimately doomed, but that both people are unable or unwilling to let go of.
The chorus of the song, which repeats the phrase "And we'll talk, and we'll talk, and we'll talk, till we understand enough" suggests that communication is key to any relationship, even if it is ultimately doomed. The idea of "talking till every word's used up" implies both a desire to connect and an acknowledgement that the relationship might be beyond saving, while the line "like this was the toughest love" suggests that the characters are both aware of the difficulty of the situation they find themselves in.
Overall, We'll Talk is a song about a complicated, unhealthy relationship that is doomed from the start. The singer of the song acknowledges the problems in the relationship, but is unable or unwilling to walk away from it. The repeated references to talking suggest a desire to connect and communicate, but ultimately these efforts may not be enough to save the relationship.
