Hey brother
Same mother
This ain't Lil Durk but we Bang Brothers
We don't hit girls but we bang hoes
Grew up with nothing we had to wear the same clothes
Hey brother
We finna blow better take cover
You love yo hoe then take care of her
Cus if you don't me and my brother gon
I'm wit my twin
So you gotta bring a friend
And she gotta be a ten
Right off the top no pen
I might never write again
Unless they send me to the pin
Never met a bitch I need
And I'll never hit the same hoe again hey
I'm wit Ashanti wait
I'm wit myself
Who do I trust? Nobody just myself hey
I guess that I'm selfish
Eat the beat up for breakfast
Bitch I go dumb, I go retarded, I need a helmet
Let's make a bet
Two on two
Me and my brother what you wanna do
I put my life on the line and I swear
And you can kill me if I lose
But I ain't taking no L
My brother down the road he ain't got no bail
Me and by brother my twin for real
Me and my twin did shit I can't tell
Yeah
I'm up now ion care who got next
Four years old saw my daddy whip a Pyrex
Now I spit crack it's gon take a while to digest
Shanti and Shunti the coldest no contest
Who the fuck think they go harder than me
Stop all the cap, I'm out of yo league
Please do not underestimate a king
I will embarrass yo family tree
Hey brother
Slept on the floor in the same cover
I hit her once and don't think of her
Gimme fall, winter, spring and the summer fuck these niggas
Rather watch paint dry
Than to watch you wack niggas take what's mine
Cus a nigga like me really hard to find
You ain't talkin bout money I hit decline
Click
These niggas ain't in the mix
Outside they city don't really exist
But they hating on niggas who is
Hop on some money and hop off my dick
You scaring the hoes
We undefeated
Look at the score
Free all my niggas they sent up the road

We gon be rich by the time you come home
Fuck 12

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Of Cabbages and Kings' "Sister" tell the story of two people who are in love but cannot openly express their feelings due to the expectations and scrutiny of their small town community. The singer remarks that "news travels faster than a sigh" in their town, indicating that any actions or rumors will quickly spread. Because of this, the couple must hide their love and pretend to be nothing more than siblings, waving to each other on the street. They exchange small talk about the weather until they can be alone, where they can finally express their true feelings without the fear of being exposed.

The lyrics suggest a struggle between societal expectations and personal desire, as the couple feels pressured to conform to the norms of their community while their emotions remain strong. They want to shout their love to the world but are forced to hide it in order to fit in. The words "there's only one way we can play it" indicate that the couple feels trapped in this situation, unable to express their love fully until they are free from the constraints of their town.

Overall, the lyrics of "Sister" are a poignant and emotional ode to the challenges of love in a small town, where social norms can be restrictive and stifling. The song speaks to the power of personal desire against the pressure to conform, and the ways in which love can find a way to thrive even in the most difficult circumstances.

@variantmedia

Definitely one of my all time fav albums . I too still have it on vinyl though perhaps worse for wear. Must have played it 1000 times 1989-91

@rr7firefly

That intro tune with the accordion is "Fascination," a popular waltz song with music (1904) by Fermo Dante Marchetti and lyrics (1905) by Maurice de Féraudy (English lyrics by Dick Manning). You should check out the 1957 version by Jane Morgan, who had a big hit with this song. Yes, I know… it's ancient but it's a gem.

@transistormedia

One of my favorite tracks from this album. The old out of tune accordion is long gone unfortunately

@royallonghope

i assume nobody gives this song enough time to get going, its off a brilliant album that includes one of my alltime favorite tunes, "easiest room in hell". it closes with the same accordian music. algis kyisz (sorry thats not spelt right!) played bass in this.

@transistormedia
