While recording their debut album, the band impressed several labels and ultimately selected Rise Records, to which they were signed on October 14, 2008. Their debut album, As If Everything Was Held in Place, was released on March 3, 2009, and through touring their region relentlessly, they quickly became the word of mouth buzz band in the genre.
On April 19, 2010, Of Machines stated on their myspace that they have broken up due to Dylan's earlier departure from the band thus creating a domino effect on the rest of the other band members.
As of early 2013, the original line up are now recording a new EP. Some songs came from it, but the band went on a new hiatus after that.

Make decisions that you maybe shouldn't
Find your way back home
If you can't its not where you left it
Find time to cry
Remember all the people that you've left now
Decision's been made
And all it's worth
Is a circumstantial two bit love
All we got
Is a minute and nothing more
Walk out in the light
You've been seen before but not like this
Intimate change of pace
Now tell me this isn't what you wanted
It'll spin 'round your head
Twist your point of view if you're not careful
They're sinister if you know nothing they say is true
And all it's worth
Is a circumstantial two bit love
All we got
Is a minute and nothing more
Would you believe that I've been changing all along
Or would you say it's been this way
And I just woke up
Would you believe that I've been changing all along
Or would you say it's been this way
And I just woke up
Would you believe that I've been changing all along
Or would you say it's been this way
And I just woke up
Would you believe that I've been changing all along
Or would you say it's been this way
And I just woke up
The song "All Along The Greyscale" by Of Machines is a haunting reflection on making difficult decisions and the sometimes circumstantial nature of love. The opening lines of the song - "Speak broken words, make decisions that you maybe shouldn't" - suggest a sense of uncertainty and hesitation in making choices. The lyrics then shift to a more introspective tone, encouraging the listener to find time to cry and remember those they've left behind. The lines "All that's left is to wait it out now" convey a sense of resignation, implying that sometimes we must simply accept the consequences of our actions and wait for time to pass.
The chorus of the song - "And all it's worth, is a circumstantial two-bit love/All we got, is a minute and nothing more" - further emphasizes the theme of uncertainty and fleetingness, suggesting that love itself may be unreliable and transitory. The second verse continues this thread, describing a "change of pace" that may be both exciting and unsettling. The lines "Now tell me this isn't what you wanted/It'll spin 'round your head/Twist your point of view if you're not careful" speak to the potential confusion and disorientation that can come with making major life changes.
The song's repeated refrain - "Would you believe that I've been changing all along/Or would you say it's been this way/And I just woke up" - suggests a desire for self-reflection and introspection. The last line, in which the singer wonders whether they have simply "woke up" to a pre-existing way of being or have actively undergone change, is left open-ended and ambiguous.
Overall, "All Along The Greyscale" is a nuanced and deeply introspective exploration of the difficulties of decision-making and the changing nature of relationships.

You can't just expect a band to quit and comeback after some years and have the same sound as well as access to the same quality recording tools. Sounds great guys. Always love the cleans.

they've changed so much, yet maintained their sound in such a unique way. and the mixing is perfect. i'm so fucking excited for this EP even if i never got the shirt or "special suprise" from the band. plus those lyrics are beautiful. 10/10

The reason Of Machines was so great in the first place was because the singing went so perfect with the jams and since it was so unique it became famous. I wish they just had more clean vocals with screams in the background
