Wars
Of Monsters and Men Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To lie alone in your bed
When you know this is forever
Low like the sun
Come down and break into two
And I know we'll burn together
But I'm careless and I'm wicked
Yeah, I love you on the weekends
It's a cruel war
I still have pieces of you stuck on me
Pieces of you stuck on me
Yeah, I love you on the weekends
It's a cruel war
Cold but you glow
Like the streets of Tokyo
It's alright, we can stay lost here forever
Sinking stones, we don't know
What lies on the riverbed
So we fall, no control
No this can't be over yet
Yeah, I love you on the weekends
But I'm careless and I'm wicked
Yeah, I love you on the weekends
It's a cruel war
I still have pieces of you stuck on me
Pieces of you stuck on me
Yeah, I love you on the weekends
It's a cruel war
We try to laugh about it, like it's OK
(That's how it's supposed to be)
We try to laugh about it, like it's OK
It's heavy, is that how it's supposed to be?
Yeah, I love you on the weekends (love you on the weekends)
But I'm careless and I'm wicked (careless and I'm wicked)
Yeah, I love you on the weekends
It's a cruel war
I still have pieces of you stuck on me (love you on the weekends)
Pieces of you stuck on me (careless and I'm wicked)
Yeah, I love you on the weekends
It's a cruel war
In the song "Wars," Of Monsters and Men paint a complex picture of a relationship that is both thrilling and destructive, full of love but also fraught with danger. The lyrics explore the intense emotions that come with loving someone who you know is not good for you, someone who brings out your worst traits and leaves you feeling broken and confused. The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer lying alone in bed, filled with a sense of foreboding and dread about the future. The rest of the song is a meditation on the ups and downs of this tumultuous relationship, with the singer acknowledging both the joy and the pain that it brings.

Beautiful!!
I think its about someone who starts to realize that he really miss this special person.
"I love you on the weekends."
Because that's the moment when he feels more the loneliness.
"but i'm careless and i'm wicked"
He has too much 'pride' to just go after this person.
"it's a cruel war"
Because of the 'war inside him': his emotions are telling what he is trying to deny.
"I still have pieces of you stuck on me."
He misses all the little things about this person.
"We try to laugh about it, like it's ok. It's heavy. Is that how is supposed to be?"
He has not get over her/him. It's heavy. Now, he is accepting it and taking the first step to not losing this person.

I love Nanna’s voice by its cool to hear Raggi’s voice as the main voice in a song! Honestly both voices are so beautiful you can’t go wrong 😍
@halcyon-ar
Just a song? sorry, but one of the reasons I am not really into this album is because Raggi has so many solo songs, like half of the album are songs from him. I prefer Nanna's voice all the way
@JpmestraoPSN
yes <3
@Johnnieroq
Right! He hasn't been on enough songs lately.

@@halcyon-ar that's just false ! Raggi is a the main singer on Wars and Stuck in gravity. For Under A Dome, Vulture vulture, Sleepwalker and Ahay they are really together, and for the other songs Nanna is the main singer (so 5 songs) I don't find Raggi's presence as excessive...
@halcyon-ar
@@felkhaos-lepaysdeslivresex9135 In all the songs you say they "share", Raggi is the main singer
