I Feel Home
Of a Revolution (O.A.R) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There are few things pure in this world anymore,
And home is one of the few.
We'd have a drink outside,
Maybe run and hide if we saw a couple men in blue.

To me it's so damn easy to see
That true people are the people at home.
Well, I've been away but now I'm back today,
And there ain't a place I'd rather go.

I feel home,
When I see the faces that remember my own.
I feel home,
When I'm chillin outside with the people I know.

I feel home,
And that's just what I feel.
Home is reality,
And all I need is something real.

Feelin alright, headin out tonight,
Maybe out to a dark driveway.
I say now some feel bored,
And some are lookin for more.

Well, we all just decide to stay.
We got nothin to do,
And I look at you
I see something that I know and love.

And with the crack of a smile we all stay a while
We know from home there ain't nothing above.
Well in the end we can all call a friend
Well that's something I know as true.

And then a thousand years and a thousand tears
I come to findingin(something's wrong here) my original crew
'Cause to me throughout eternity
There's somewhere where you're welcome to go

I said it's something free that means a lot to me
When I'm with my friends I feel home.
I feel home,
When I see the faces I remember my own

I feel home,
When I'm chillin outside with the people I know.
I feel home,
And that's just what I feel.

Home is reality,
And all I need something real
Home is reality,

And all I need something real
I feel home.

Overall Meaning

In "I Feel Home" by O.A.R., the band talks about how home is one of the few pure things left in the world. The idea of home is comforting and easy to see for the singer, where true people are the ones at home. The song is about being away from home and finding comfort in returning. It's about the simplicity of being with friends and feeling content with just being in each other's company. The fear of the police's presence is mentioned in the line, "Maybe run and hide if we saw a couple men in blue," representing the judgement and scrutiny that the outside world can bring.

The lyrics repeatedly emphasize the importance of home and the people in it. The singer sings about seeing faces that remember his own, and being with the people he knows. The bond between these friends is unbreakable, even if they "got nothing to do." The song also touches on the idea that home is everlasting. The singer mentions that even through "a thousand years and a thousand tears," they will always be welcomed back. It's not something that can be bought or achieved by status, but rather by being with the people who care about you.

Overall, the song beautifully expresses the feeling of coming home after being away, and the comfort and sense of belonging that it gives. It touches upon not only the physical space but the emotional connections that make a place feel like home.

Who else has been here with them for two decades? I know you’re out there. Here for OAR since 2001!

My love was much later. I was probably 15 16 but my friends were much older. The hippie of the group played this and crazy game of poker and I was hooked. I'm 31 now. So many great memories ♡

Tom

I have a OAR tattoo. Got it when I was 19 (dumb and young). I guess it's at least unique. Really love there older albums.

@Whit oh I bet this song does have some extra feels in it for you.

I saw my first live show in 2002! I started listening in 2001 also. Senior year high school. The guy who introduced me was a childhood friend and he died shortly after graduation.

This song stings. I like the slow version better
