… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least 3 bands that go by the name of "Off The Record":
1) Off The Record was a punk band that formed in the spring of 1997. From 1997 to 1999, they played extensively throughout California, where their unique punk style and energetic live show gained them recognition, eventually landing them a contract with Tooth & Nail Records. They recorded their first album, Remember When, at the infamous Blasting Room with legendary musicians and producers Bill Stevenson and Stephan Egerton, back in 2000. After its release, the band signed with New School Records and recorded their 2nd album, Mulligan, at Orange Crush Studios in December 2001 which opened doors for the band to tour more and/or share the stage with acts, such as Strung Out, MxPx, The Vandals, Slick Shoes, Dogwood, Over It and more.
In mid-2003, Off The Record was approached by Ryan Greene - one of punk rock's most respected producers - about putting his talent to work for them. Neither Off The Record nor New School Records could turn down his proposal, so the band went into the studio in the summer of 2003 to record Nothing New. The quartet combined metal, punk and pop to create a five-track EP of catchy melodies.
This EP was the final release of the band and broke up around 2004/2005.
2) The other is a beatbox band from Belgium.
In 2004, Off The Record rises from the ashes of Flemish theatre collective Podium Modern: their last play evolves into a vocal band. 4 men set out on a search to what they can achieve musically using only sounds produced by mouths and vocal chords. They differ from the hip-hop beatbox culture in that songs and group sound are all important. They differ from a'capella groups in that they are each equipped with a decent set of cojones. On their self-titled debut album released in 2005, they show they can confirm on a record what they have proven live throughout the Benelux by then: producing swinging, funny, moving, enticing songs that make you forget only mouths are producing the sounds. In the summer of 2005 they prove they can stand their ground on the bigger festivals in Belgium and Holland.
After a change of personnel the band starts work on their second album in 2007. With "Don't Wait Up" Off The Record is aiming at radio and dancefloor alike; ALL songs are still produced by voices, tongues and lips, but the result sounds like a contemporary pop record. The first single "Pinkerbeat" (nothing to do with the colour... 'pinker' is Flemish for the indicator on a car) was released at the end of januari 2008. The album was released in march. Since that time OTR have returned to their natural habitat: a stage near you.
3) A rock band from Jupiter, FL.
Good Times
Off The Record Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Now we know that it's time to say that we do. The time has come.
The fun has just begun. Hand in hand walking under the sun.
Forever seems like it's one day away.
The shortest walk is the longest journey. Side by side is where we're gonna be.
It's time to get old and it's time to get fat. It's time to have kids.
There's nothing wrong with that. 'cause when I'm with you everything's gonna be ok.
You and I know what makes us this way.
Forever seems like it's only one day away.
In Off The Record's song "Good Times," the lyrics evoke a bittersweet feeling of acceptance that time has come for certain milestones in life. The first verse starts with the singer admitting that they didn't expect things to turn out like this, but now they've reached the final kiss, indicating the end of a relationship. However, they also realize that it's time to say "I do," and the time has come for a new beginning. The second verse shows the sense of excitement that comes with starting a new chapter in life. The couple is walking hand in hand under the sun, and they feel every day is a step closer to forever, which they know is only one day away.
The third verse has a playful tone, with the artist touching on life milestones that people often plan for: growing old, getting fat, having kids. He reassures the listener that there's nothing wrong with those things and that everything will be okay as they embark on this new journey together. The chorus, "The good times come. The good times stay," affirms that the good moments in life will stick around as long as they're committed to making them last. The last line of the chorus, "Forever seems like it's only one day away," juxtaposes the excitement of new beginnings with the realization that time moves quickly, emphasizing the importance of treasuring current moments.
Overall, "Good Times" is a song about coming to terms with life changes, both big and small. It's about finding happiness in the present moment while looking forward to what's to come. It encourages listeners to embrace life and to enjoy the good times while they last.
