water
Ohgr Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Gray no petals no introduction
Gray matter for introspection
Water making and breaking seeming fine

Faith no martyr no resolution
Depth of water over our heads in
Breath restricted all suffocation
Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath

A trippy absolute
Eye tripping disease
No resolution
No auto save

Crave it matters
No fixed solution
No path crossed aging desert
Senic fixture and fixing
Wonder why

Goal neglected
Greed for negation
Rights affected
Last stop salvation
World objective equalization

Choice

Decision

No real division

Back burn

System

Faith no martyr no resolution
Depth of water over our heads in
Breath restricted all suffocation

Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath
Breath

A trippy absolute
Eye tripping disease

No resolution
No auto save

Overall Meaning

The first verse of Ohgr's song "Water" is about introspection and observation. Grey is often used to describe dullness or lack of emotion, and in this context, "gray no petals no introduction" sets the scene for a lack of excitement or energy. The reference to "gray matter" relates to the brain as the organ for thought and introspection. The line "water making and breaking seeming fine" can be interpreted in several ways, one of which is the idea that life and emotions can ebb and flow like water, which can be both positive and negative experiences.

The chorus consists of the repetition of the word "breath." This repetition can be interpreted as a reminder of the importance of breathing and the function it has in our daily lives. The line "depth of water over our heads in / breath restricted all suffocation" highlights the fear of drowning or being overwhelmed, which can be a metaphor for other sources of stress or anxiety that prevent us from breathing easily.

The second verse is more abstract, with lines like "a trippy absolute / eye tripping disease." This is a reflection on the way we perceive reality, questioning whether what we see is the truth or just an illusion. The lines "no resolution/ no auto save" reinforce this idea of there being no easy way out or "saving" ourselves from difficult situations.

Overall, "Water" is a song that deals with various themes such as self-reflection, fear, and the complexity of our own perceptions. It suggests that life can be overwhelming and confusing, but also emphasizes the importance of breathing and taking a moment to observe and reflect on our surroundings.

The singer's real name is Kevin Ogilvie. Professionally, he goes by Nivek Ogre (Nivek being Kevin backwards). He also is the lead singer for Skinny Puppy. SP and Ohgr song names typically are ambiguous, or are intentionally misspelled. Hence, Ohgr for the name of the band, instead of Ogre. You can see him act in Repo! The Genetic Opera, playing Pavi Largo.
