El grupo inicia como un proyecto casual entre amigos en mayo del 2007. La agrupación arma un repertorio de 7 covers y una canción original 3 días antes del debut oficial en vivo. Por varios meses continúan montando covers de rock-reggae en fiestas y bares pequeños.
Ojo de Buey pasa por una metamorfosis, poco a poco va integrando un sabor más latino en sus piezas mezclándolo con la tendencia al reggae ya prevaleciente. El resultado: un balance introspectivo que le permite al grupo, y a sus integrantes, adquirir fuerza, movimiento y dirección. Se abren espacios para componer y escribir canciones propias y el repertorio original comienza a ser el centro de atención.
A finales de Julio Ojo de Buey se interna en una casa en la playa durante 10 días para grabar lo que será su primer disco. Luego se graban arreglos de vientos, piano, hammond y retoques finales en Los Angeles en Octubre 2010. El disco es mezclado por Manuel Jimenez en Arimaka, y masterizado por Eric Boulanger en The Mastering Lab, CA. En marzo de 2011 se realiza el lanzamiento oficial de "Sabor en un tiempo cruel" con el inicio de una serie de conciertos en Costa Rica.
